Job description

What you’ll do

Day to day

Teach the agents

Review agent‑drafted responses, correct them, and give structured feedback that makes the next draft sharper: tone, compliance, win themes, formatting, and the right resumes and past projects for each pursuit.

Handle the hard cases

Fix the messy, high‑stakes responses the agents get wrong, and build the rails they learn to follow, so quality holds up across firms, disciplines, and RFP types.

Write with Buoyant

Use Buoyant’s own agents to draft real proposals for our clients, so you feel the product exactly the way our users do and see where it needs to get better.

Be the proposal expert in the room

Sit with the founders when we decide what to build next, so each product update makes a coordinator’s life easier.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone with real, hands‑on AEC proposal experience and a passion for improving the craft. You’ll thrive in a fast‑moving startup environment and be comfortable learning new AI tools.

What we’re looking for Must‑haves
  • Real, hands‑on AEC proposal experience. You’ve personally owned RFP and SOQ responses at an A/E, civil, structural, environmental, construction, or architecture firm. Titles like Proposal Writer, Proposal Coordinator, or Marketing/BD Coordinator.
  • Hands‑on Adobe InDesign experience creating proposals. You’ve laid out and produced full proposal documents in InDesign, not just written copy in Word.
  • Strong instincts for what wins, and the ability to explain them, not just apply them.
  • Pride in the craft, and a desire for a focused role doing what you’re great at.
  • Organized, detail‑oriented, and reliable under deadline.
  • Curiosity about AI and comfort picking up new tools. No coding required.
Strong advantages
  • Federal proposal experience with SF330 and SF254 forms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Word production skills (styles, templates, cross‑references), since Buoyant works in Word too.
  • Depth in a specific AEC discipline: civil, structural, environmental, water, transportation, or architecture.
  • Experience mentoring junior writers or giving structured feedback, which is exactly how you’ll train the agents.
Not the right role if
  • You want to move out of hands‑on writing into pure management or strategy.
  • You don’t have direct AEC proposal experience. This role is built around it.
  • You want heavy process and a big marketing team to lean on. We’re small and we move fast.
Tell us about yourself.
