Position Summary
The University of New Mexico - Popejoy Hall is seeking a highly motivated and professional Student Production Intern for the 2025-2026 performance season.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dependable individual who demonstrates strong communication skills, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to excellence and reliability. Ideal candidates are team players, attentive listeners, and punctual, with a genuine interest in pursuing a career in technical theater or production management.
Position Overview:
The Student Production Intern will work closely with the Popejoy Hall production team and serve as a key support to the Technical Director, Production Manager, and/or Production Coordinator. This position provides hands-on experience in large-scale production environments, particularly in support of touring Broadway shows and other professional performances.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist the Technical Director, Production Manager, and/or Production Coordinator, during load-ins, technical rehearsals, and strikes
Support production logistics including hospitality, security coordination, and backstage operations
Liaise with visiting production teams to ensure their technical and logistical needs are met
Attend and observe production meetings as appropriate
Assist in creating and maintaining production paperwork and documentation
Support other departmental needs as assigned
Internship duties may be adapted to align with the candidate's specific interests and strengths. A foundational understanding of theatrical production practices and equipment is preferred.
This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling, including availability on evenings and weekends as required.
This opportunity is ideal for students pursuing careers in Production Management, Stage Management, or Technical Direction and offers immersive exposure to professional performing arts operations.

Attention to detail and stage or theatrical experience preferred. Ability to comprehend and carry out instructions is very important.
