What does an advertising producer do?

An Advertising Producer manages the production process of advertising campaigns, from concept to completion. They coordinate with clients, creative teams, directors, and vendors to ensure that ads are delivered on time, within budget, and to the client's specifications. Their responsibilities often include budgeting, scheduling, overseeing shoots or digital production, and troubleshooting any issues that arise. Advertising Producers play a crucial role in turning creative ideas into finished advertisements that appear on TV, online, in print, or on other media platforms.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an advertising producer?

To thrive as an Advertising Producer, you need expertise in project management, budgeting, and a solid understanding of advertising concepts, often backed by a degree in marketing, communications, or related fields. Familiarity with production software (such as Adobe Creative Suite), scheduling tools, and sometimes certifications in project management like PMP are highly valued. Strong interpersonal skills, creativity, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks under tight deadlines help set top performers apart. These skills are crucial for efficiently delivering compelling advertising content that meets client goals and deadlines.

What are some common challenges faced by advertising producers when managing multiple campaigns simultaneously?

Advertising Producers often juggle several campaigns at once, which can present challenges such as coordinating timelines, managing budgets, and ensuring consistent communication among creative, account, and production teams. Prioritizing tasks, adapting quickly to last-minute client feedback, and maintaining attention to detail are crucial to keeping projects on track. Strong organizational skills and the ability to delegate responsibilities effectively help producers navigate these demands and deliver high-quality results on schedule.

What is the difference between Advertising Producer vs Media Planner?

AspectAdvertising ProducerMedia Planner

While both roles are essential in advertising, an Advertising Producer focuses on managing the production process of campaigns, ensuring creative and logistical aspects are executed smoothly. A Media Planner concentrates on strategizing and selecting media channels to optimize campaign reach and effectiveness. Both roles often collaborate but serve distinct functions within the advertising industry.

Job description

Full Time | In-Office

Location: New York, NY

Salary: Flexible based on experience

About Corgi

Corgi is building the infrastructure for the next generation of insurance. We are a technology company using AI, automation, and modern infrastructure to rethink how insurance is built, distributed, and operated.

We are a fast-moving company where teams are expected to take ownership, move quickly, and constantly improve how we do things.

We are looking for a Digital Advertising Designer to create the visual creative behind Corgi's digital advertising.

This is not a traditional graphic design or brand design role. You will be designing creative specifically for paid acquisitionโ€” ads that need to capture attention, communicate a message quickly, and ultimately drive action.

You'll work closely with the growth and advertising teams to turn performance insights into better creative. You will take winning concepts, develop new variations, and constantly produce new creative for testing across our advertising channels.

The Role

You will own the design and production of Corgi's digital advertising media.

Your work will appear across platforms such as Meta, Google, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other digital advertising channels.

You will work closely with the paid media team to understand what is performing and translate those insights into new media.

You should be comfortable producing a high volume of media, iterating quickly, and designing multiple variations of the same concept to support testing.

What You'll Do

  • Design digital advertisements across Meta, Google, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other advertising platforms.
  • Create static ads, carousels, display creative, short-form video, and other digital advertising formats.
  • Translate advertising concepts, messaging, and performance insights into compelling visual media.
  • Develop multiple variations for testing different hooks, messaging, layouts, imagery, and calls to action.
  • Adapt media for different audiences, products, markets, and advertising platforms.
  • Take high-performing concepts and develop new iterations and variations.
  • Work closely with the paid media team to understand which media is performing and why.
  • Maintain a consistent but flexible visual language across Corgi's advertising.
  • Create landing-page and conversion-focused visual assets when needed.
  • Edit and produce short-form video content for paid advertising.
  • Rapidly iterate on media based on campaign performance and feedback.
  • Build and maintain an organized library of advertising and source files.
  • Stay current on digital advertising creative trends, platform formats, and emerging creative techniques.
  • Help establish a repeatable creative production process as Corgi's advertising operation scales.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who understands that advertising design is different from traditional design.

You should have:

  • Experience designing for digital advertising, paid social, performance marketing, or growth marketing.
  • A strong visual eye and excellent design fundamentals.
  • The ability to communicate a message quickly and clearly through design.
  • Experience designing for platforms such as Meta, Google, LinkedIn, TikTok, or YouTube.
  • Strong typography, composition, layout, and visual hierarchy skills.
  • The ability to take a concept and turn it into multiple creative executions.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to work quickly and iterate frequently.
  • Comfort receiving performance-based feedback and changing creative based on what the data says.
  • A strong understanding of what makes digital advertising effective.
  • A portfolio demonstrating digital advertising or performance-oriented creative work.

Ideally, You Can Also:

  • Work comfortably in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Canva, or similar tools.
  • Have experience creating short-form video advertisements.
  • Have experience designing for direct-response advertising.
  • Have experience working with performance marketing or paid acquisition teams.
  • Understand basic A/B testing and creative testing.
  • Understand how different creative formats perform across different advertising platforms.
  • Have experience with financial services, insurance, technology, or other performance-driven businesses.
  • Have experience producing a high volume of media in a fast-moving environment.

What This Role Is Not

This is not:

  • A traditional graphic design role.
  • A brand identity role.
  • A UI/UX design role.
  • An influencer marketing role.
  • A social media management role.
  • A media buying or paid acquisition optimization role.
  • A role where you are expected to own campaign budgets or CAC.

We specifically want someone who can take an idea, turn it into compelling advertising, produce multiple variations, and continuously improve the quality and effectiveness of what we put in front of customers.

Why Corgi

You will have significant ownership over a highly visible part of Corgi's growth engine.

You'll work directly with the people responsible for paid acquisition and have a direct feedback loop between creative โ†’ performance โ†’ iteration.

If something works, you'll know. If it doesn't, you'll know. And you'll have the opportunity to immediately create something better.

There is no massive creative department or rigid production process between you and the work. You'll have the freedom to test ideas, move quickly, and build the creative function from the ground up.

If you love designing ads and constantly think about how to make creative more compelling, we'd like to meet you.
