What is an advertising internship?

Advertising internships are temporary, entry-level positions that give students or recent graduates hands-on experience in the advertising industry. Interns typically assist with tasks such as market research, content creation, campaign planning, and administrative support. These internships provide valuable exposure to real-world advertising work, helping interns build relevant skills and professional networks. Most advertising internships are offered by agencies, media companies, or in-house marketing departments, and may be paid or unpaid depending on the organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an advertising intern?

To thrive as an Advertising Intern, you generally need a background in marketing, communications, or a related field, along with strong writing and research skills. Familiarity with digital marketing tools, social media platforms, and basic graphic design or analytics software is often expected. Creativity, adaptability, and effective teamwork help interns stand out in fast-paced agency environments. These skills and qualities are crucial for contributing fresh ideas, supporting campaign execution, and learning quickly in the dynamic world of advertising.

What types of projects do advertising interns typically work on, and how much creative input can they expect to have?

Advertising interns often assist with campaign planning, market research, content creation, and social media management. While the level of creative input may vary by agency and project, interns are frequently encouraged to contribute fresh ideas during brainstorming sessions and may help draft copy or design visuals under supervision. This hands-on involvement helps interns build a diverse portfolio and gain insight into the collaborative nature of agency work. Additionally, working closely with experienced advertising professionals provides valuable mentorship and networking opportunities.

Publishing Coordinator
Full-Time | Location: Colorado Springs, CO About the Role

Do you love children’s books, storytelling, and bringing creative ideas to life? We’re looking for a Publishing Coordinator to join our Action Bible & Kids & publishing team. In this role, you’ll support the development and execution of children’s publishing initiatives—from early product planning through production and promotion.

This is a hands-on opportunity to gain meaningful experience in publishing while collaborating with creative, marketing, editorial, production, and sales teams. If you’re organized, curious, detail-oriented, and energized by creative work, this role is a great fit.

What You’ll Do

As the Publishing Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in keeping projects moving smoothly and supporting the success of our publishing efforts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide day-to-day administrative and project support to the publishing team, including scheduling, document preparation, meeting coordination, and tracking deliverables

  • Assist with product development by monitoring timelines, documenting action items, and following up with internal partners

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, editorial, production, and sales teams to move products through the publishing process

  • Conduct market and competitive research to support product strategy and brand decisions

  • Help plan and coordinate events, trade shows, and promotional activities that increase brand visibility

  • Prepare and update brand plans, presentations, reports, and leadership updates

  • Coordinate with external vendors, agencies, and partners to support publishing initiatives

  • Maintain organized digital brand and product folders, ensuring files are current and accessible

  • Support additional projects as needed with a flexible, can-do attitude

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who is both detail-oriented and creative, with strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Publishing, or a related field (or currently pursuing a degree)

  • Experience through internships, coursework, or professional roles in publishing, marketing, administration, or project coordination

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus

  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail

  • Editorial sensibility and an eye for design aesthetics

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment

  • Professional discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality

Work Environment & Schedule
  • Typical business hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with flexibility for occasional evenings or weekends as needed

  • Office-based work environment with collaborative spaces

  • Some travel may be required

  • 401(k) w/ Company Match ($0.50 on the $1 up to 10% of eligible compensation)
  • Basic and Voluntary Life Insurance Options
  • Long-Term Disability
  • Short-Term Disability
  • Voluntary Accident
  • Life Assistance Plan

Other Benefits:

  • Adoption Benefit
  • Benevolence Fund
  • Service Recognition Leave

  • Pet Insurance Discounts
  • Tuition Reimbursement
