General Summary: The Creative Services Coordinator isresponsible for assisting with the productionof graphic design projects for theZoo's advertising, marketing, and signage. Outputs include brochures, banners, temporary and permanent signage,digital, web, and email marketing. This positionreports to the Director of CreativeServices. Additionally, the Creative Services Coordinator will support the Zoo's mission to save wildlife and protect wild placesand contribute to its environmental, social, governance sustainability, conservation, education and DEAI(Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Inclusion) goals.
Primary Function:
  • Assist with theproduction of all in-housedesign work including publications, signage,advertising, and on-groundsgraphics;
  • Assist with developing and maintainingconsistent visual identitiesto enhance marketinginitiatives;
  • Assist with projectwork flow, includingdeliverable dates and vendor management and billing;
  • Collaboratewith Zoo departments to implement visual solutionsfor needs relating to events,signs, and marketingrequests;
  • Assist with email marketing design;
  • Collaboratewith Digital Media Coordinator;
  • Organize and maintainphoto archives and digital graphicslibrary;
  • Maintain industry knowledgeon graphic trendsand design software;
  • Perform other duties as assigned; and,
  • Adhere to all policies and proceduresof the Zoo.
Communication (Internal and External):
  • Assist with coordinationof various Zoo vendors including, printers, outside designers, manufacturers,retailers, photographers and software/hardware companies;
  • Maintaincollaborative and service-oriented relationships with key internal department managers to fulfillgraphics requests;
  • Coordinateand distribute finished pieces,images, logos, photographsto outside advertisers, agencies orZoo managers.
Management of Resources(Financial, Human Resources, Facilities):
  • Prioritize incoming requests, create and communicate projecttimelines.
  • Work closelywith Director of Creative Services to manage department resources;
  • Develop and manage relationships with outside vendors;
  • Organize, update, and maintain photo archives and digital graphicslibrary; and,
  • Assist the Zoo's advertising agency of record to request or fulfill design related agency projects.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in graphicdesign, advertising, and/ or relatedfields preferred.
Experience/Training:
  • Minimum 6 monthsof related professional experience;
  • Two to threeyears working on graphic design projects preferred;
  • Marketing and advertising work experience preferred;
  • Proficientknowledge of programsincluding Photoshop, InDesign,Illustrator;
  • Knowledgeof Adobe After Effects, HTML5 or CSS preferred, but notrequired;
  • Mac Pro systemproficiency; and,
  • Must have a valid driver'slicense.
Traits Desirable:
  • Ability to work with individuals from a wide variety of ethnic, cultural,and economic backgrounds;
  • Excellentknowledge of the creative and printing processes;
  • Knowledge of sign production processand sign design programs;
  • Ability to communicate effectively;
  • Strong organizational skills;and,
  • ExcellentEnglish written skills.
Equipment:
  • Mustbe able to operate a varietyof machines and equipment including computer,telephone, scanner, copier, two-way radio, golf cart, vehicles, etc.
Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to stand and remain active for an eight-hour shift;
  • Must be able to walk large areas ofthe Zoo as needed;
  • Mustbe able to work in an outdoor weatherenvironment in all seasonsand weather, including heat/humidity, coldtemperatures, and/or wet conditions;
  • Ability to work a flexibleschedule to include weekends, holidays, and special events; and,
  • Must be able to exert up to 35 pounds of force to lift,push, pull, carry,or otherwise move objects.
