Job Description:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, team members, and others of diverse backgrounds. 
  • Moves, positions, and manipulates radiographic equipment to complete requested procedures safely.
  • Performs direct patient care duties within the technologist’s scope of practice, including monitoring patient condition, transporting patient, and using proper infection control techniques.
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
  • Cross-trains into advanced modalities as needed.
  • Ability to follow basic radiation safety concepts of time, distance and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patient and staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Performs radiographic imaging procedures, ensuring high-quality images that meet department standards.
  • Positions patients and equipment, selecting technical factors to produce radiographic images safely and in a timely manner.
  • Performs imaging with correct patient demographic and examination information. Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems. 
  • Assists patients during procedures, ensuring their comfort, safety, and privacy, in compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of Diagnostic Imaging to include Surgery and Trauma
  • Previous Radiologic Technologist experience [Preferred]
  • One year post certification experience required to evaluate and/or instruct student radiographers
  • Ability to analyze and assess data, techniques, methodology, equipment operation, and quality control to ensure that information is obtained and presented accurately
  • Up-to-date knowledge of patient positioning and equipment operations, including x-ray producing equipment, if applicable per facility
  • Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry
  • Able to fully use all Radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment
  • Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to use computer system for data entry and retrieval
  • Patient care skills to care for Infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations
  • Must be able to independently perform radiographic procedures to departmental standards
  • Demonstrates ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively
  • Ability to learn and use radiology software packages such as Cerner, Radnet, PACS, etc.
  • Maintain responsibility for all required registries and licenses to perform Diagnostic Imaging
  • Responsible to maintain all required continuing and annual education
  • Knowledge of Diagnostic Radiological Procedures/Positions
  • Ability to determine appropriate technical factors
  • Ability to learn and master new tasks related to Image Quality and Radiation Safety
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds
  • Adult/and child/infant CPR [Required]
  • Ability to perform radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail
  • Knowledge of communication styles and constant deployment of proper engagement behaviors when encountering patients, staff, and physicians
  • This position requires knowledge of the use of computerized and radiographic equipment to perform diagnostic procedures in a manner consistent with minimal radiation exposure and maximum image quality
  • The ability to communicate and receive instructions, verbally and written and carry them out as directed
  • Must be able to operate radiographic equipment and work with electrical and radiant energy
  • Comprehensive knowledge of general radiographic procedures
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast pace, high patient volume environment
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Must have the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care that addressed the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age appropriate needs to the patient population served within the department
