Being a driver for Guardian Fleet Services means stepping into one of the most visible and influential roles in the company. Our drivers are more than operators behind the wheel—they are the face of the organization, the first point of contact for customers in moments of stress, and the standard‑bearers of our professionalism and values.
Position Summary
The Heavy‑Duty Wrecker Driver is responsible for safely operating heavy‑duty tow trucks to recover, tow, and transport commercial vehicles, equipment, and other large loads. This role requires advanced driving skill, strong mechanical awareness, and the ability to perform physically demanding recovery tasks in all weather conditions. The driver represents the company on‑scene and must maintain professionalism, safety, and efficiency at all times.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy‑duty wreckers, rotators, and recovery equipment to tow or recover various vehicles/heavy equipment.
  • Perform complex recoveries including rollovers, winch‑outs, load shifts, and accident scene operations.
  • Inspect, maintain, and secure all rigging, chains, straps, winches, and towing equipment.
  • Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of the wrecker and report mechanical issues.
  • Communicate with dispatch, law enforcement, customers, and other responders on‑scene.
  • Secure loads safely and in compliance with DOT and company standards.
  • Complete required paperwork, digital logs, and service reports.
  • Respond to calls during nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized truck and uphold company safety standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Valid CDL Class A
  • Clean driving record meeting DOT and insurance standards.
  • Experience operating heavy‑duty wreckers or rotators preferred.
  • Knowledge of rigging, recovery techniques, and load securement.
  • Ability to pass drug screening and background checks.
  • Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift, pull, and carry 75–100 lbs. regularly (chains, rigging, toolboxes, hydraulic attachments).
  • Operate winches, levers, and manual controls requiring upper‑body strength.
  • Perform repeated bending, kneeling, climbing, and crouching during recovery operations.
  • Stand and work on uneven ground for extended periods.
