Job description

Assistant Electrical Project Manager
  • Department: Electrical & Commercial Construction
  • Location: Plano, Texas/Dallas, Texas (On-site)
  • Duration: Full-time/PERM
  • Travel: Moderate 25% work travel
Our client is a well-established commercial electrical contractor specializing in complex projects across the healthcare, municipal, industrial, and multi-family sectors. The Assistant Electrical Project Manager plays a key role in supporting the successful planning, execution, and closeout of commercial electrical construction projects. Working closely with Project Managers and field leadership, this position assists with project administration, procurement, scheduling, documentation, and subcontractor coordination. Driven by a service-oriented mindset and a commitment to operational excellence, this role offers a clear pathway for professional growth into advanced project leadership and operations management.
Key responsibilities
1. Project coordination:
  • Assist PMs with day-to-day administration
  • Support project startup, planning, and closeout
  • Maintain schedules, documentation, and reporting
  • Track progress, material deliveries, and manpower
2. Field support:
  • Coordinate materials, equipment, and manpower
  • Respond promptly to field requests
  • Remove obstacles impacting field productivity
  • Maintain communication across teams and vendors
3. Procurement & documentation:
  • Assist with material procurement and tracking
  • Manage submittals, RFIs, and change orders
  • Maintain organized project files and records
  • Support invoice review and vendor coordination
4. Financial & admin support:
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking
  • Support labor productivity reporting
  • Help prepare project reports and meeting docs
  • Assist with billing and financial administration
5. Safety & compliance:
  • Support company safety policies
  • Maintain required project compliance records
  • Reinforce commitment to safe project execution
6. Client & team relationships:
  • Representing the company professionally
  • Support positive client and vendor relationships
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism
Required qualifications
  • Experience in construction or project coordination
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read construction drawings and specs
  • Strong work ethic and accountability
Preferred experience
  • Commercial Electrical Construction Experience
  • Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar
  • Exposure to estimating, procurement, or scheduling
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Education
  • A degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience in commercial electrical project management will be considered.
