We are seeking an experienced Tools and Automation Engineer to develop and maintain software applications, automation tools, and testing infrastructure that support advanced GPS and navigation technologies. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building desktop applications, automating complex workflows, and collaborating across hardware and software teams to solve challenging technical problems. You will play a key role in designing scalable software solutions, improving product testing capabilities, and supporting the development lifecycle from concept through production. What You'll Do โ€ข Design, develop, and maintain desktop applications using C#/.NET, C++, and Python. โ€ข Define and promote scalable, maintainable software architectures for command, control, automation, and data analysis tools. โ€ข Lead projects through the full software development lifecycle, from concept and design through validation and manufacturing release. โ€ข Develop automation solutions that improve product testing, verification, and manufacturing processes. โ€ข Collaborate with systems, hardware, software, and test engineering teams to translate requirements into high-quality solutions. โ€ข Create user-friendly graphical user interfaces (GUIs) that enhance usability and operational efficiency. โ€ข Design and integrate solutions with relational databases. โ€ข Support software build, release, and configuration management processes. โ€ข Produce documentation and maintain compliance with established quality and engineering standards. โ€ข Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges related to software, automation, and test environments. What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications โ€ข Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. โ€ข 5+ years of software engineering experience developing PC desktop applications. โ€ข Strong experience with: โ—‹ C#/.NET and/or C++ โ—‹ Python 3.x โ—‹ Visual Studio .NET โ—‹ GUI development โ—‹ Relational databases โ—‹ Test automation โ€ข Experience designing software architectures using modular, requirements-driven development methodologies. โ€ข Familiarity with configuration management tools, software build systems, and release processes. โ€ข Experience in at least one of the following areas: โ—‹ Product test automation โ—‹ Hardware verification โ—‹ Device driver development โ—‹ Similar engineering validation environments Preferred Qualifications โ€ข Experience with software quality frameworks such as: โ—‹ CMMI โ—‹ DO-178 โ€ข Knowledge of software development methodologies including: โ—‹ Agile โ—‹ Waterfall โ—‹ Iterative/Spiral development โ€ข Experience with Visual Basic. โ€ข Background working in highly regulated, aerospace, defense, or mission-critical product environments. This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required to support future clearance eligibility. Candidates should be prepared to discuss any previous security clearance history.
