We are currently looking for a Manager, Emerging Technology for our Houston, TX office.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Manager, Emerging Technology is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and accelerating the adoption of innovative technologies that drive operational efficiency, safety, and business growth across the organization. This role sits within the IT organization and serves as a strategic bridge between technology innovation and practical business application.

The Manager will lead the exploration and incubation of new capabilities—including AI/ML, advanced analytics, automation, and IoT—ensuring alignment with business priorities across pipeline operations, commercial systems, asset optimization, and corporate functions. This role works closely with cross-functional business and technology leaders to bring high-impact ideas to life.

This role is critical to enabling the company’s transition to a more digitally enabled, data-driven organization. By bringing innovative technologies into practical use, the Manager, Emerging Technology will help improve operational performance, enhance safety, optimize assets, and unlock new sources of value across the business.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
  • 8+ years of experience in IT, digital innovation, or technology consulting
  • Strong understanding of emerging technologies: AI/ML, generative AI, industrial IoT (IoT), advanced analytics and data platforms, and cloud computing (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives without direct authority, with strong business acumen connecting technology to measurable outcomes
  • Experience managing pilots, POCs, and innovation pipelines, with excellent communication and executive presentation skills
  • Strategic thinking, curiosity, and results-oriented mindset, with strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, able to operate in ambiguity
PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience in energy, utilities, or industrial environments (midstream preferred)
  • Familiarity with operational technologies such as SCADA, asset management, and measurement systems
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
