Adult Trainer Jobs in Kansas (NOW HIRING)

Catholic Charities of Southwest Kansas is seeking a compassionate, student-centered Adult Education Instructor to provide English language, digital literacy, and life skills classes for adult refugees and immigrants in our Dodge City office. This full-time role helps newcomers build self-sufficiency, confidence, and readiness for meaningful employment while integrating into the local community.

Catholic Charities of Southwest Kansas serves individuals and families across 28 counties with programs that promote dignity, stability, and hope. Through our Refugee Resettlement and Education services, we partner with volunteers, employers, and community organizations to ensure newcomers have the language, skills, and support needed to thrive in southwest Kansas.

• Teach English Language Training (ELT) classes for adult learners at beginner and intermediate levels using culturally responsive, trauma-informed approaches.
• Provide digital literacy instruction, including basic computer skills, online navigation, workplace technology, and access to digital resources.
• Facilitate life skills classes covering topics such as financial literacy, transportation, healthcare navigation, communication, and workplace readiness.
• Assess English proficiency and learning needs of newly arrived and secondary migrant refugees; place participants in appropriate classes and track progress toward language and employment goals.
• Collaborate closely with Employment Specialists so education aligns with workforce readiness and job placement.
• Deliver cultural orientation education on laws, rights, responsibilities, and community expectations, and check for understanding.
• Coordinate classes, workshops, and programming for specialized populations, including pregnant and parenting adults.
• Maintain accurate case notes and class records; complete assessments, documentation, and spreadsheets in accordance with Catholic Charities and KSOR policies.
• Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training; communicate regularly with supervisors about emerging needs, challenges, and successes.
• Uphold confidentiality and handle sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA standards.

• Full-time, non-exempt position (40 hours per week) with some flexibility for occasional evening or weekend classes.
• Primary work location is the Dodge City office, with some work at the Garden City office and community-based class sites as needed.
• Hourly rate: $18.00–$26.00, commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum qualifications (must-have):

• Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, human services, or related field.
• Experience teaching adults or providing case management in refugee, immigrant, or multicultural community settings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain concepts in clear, accessible language.
• Ability to work collaboratively with people of diverse cultures, languages, and backgrounds.
• Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong follow-through with documentation and reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort using computers and classroom technology.
• Ability to maintain client and agency confidentiality and comply with HIPAA standards.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred qualifications (nice-to-have):

• Experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL/ELL), adult basic education, or digital literacy.
• Experience with refugee resettlement, workforce development, or KSOR ELT/Digital Literacy programming.
• Bilingual skills (especially Spanish, Arabic, or other languages commonly spoken by refugees).

Physical and mental demands:

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk during portions of the day; occasionally lift up to 20 pounds of classroom materials.
• Frequent use of computers and classroom technology; regular driving to meetings or community class sites.
• Capacity for sustained concentration, problem-solving, and adapting instruction to different learning styles and language levels
