Job description

Position Summary

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides direct support and behavioral intervention services to adults participating in the Adult Living Skills (ALS) Program. Under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA), the RBT implements individualized behavioral intervention plans and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs designed to promote independence, functional life skills, community integration, communication, and positive behavioral outcomes.

The RBT collaborates with behavioral specialists, caregivers, program staff, and other professionals to support participants in achieving individualized goals related to daily living, vocational skills, social development, and behavioral success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Implement individualized behavior intervention and treatment plans as developed by a BCBA/BCaBA.
  • Deliver Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services in accordance with established treatment goals.
  • Support adults with special needs in developing and maintaining independent living skills.
  • Collect and accurately document behavioral and program data.
  • Assist participants with skill acquisition in areas such as:
    • Personal care and hygiene
    • Communication skills
    • Social skills
    • Community access and participation
    • Vocational readiness
    • Daily living and household management
  • Utilize positive behavior support strategies to reduce challenging behaviors and promote skill development.
  • Maintain professional communication with supervisors, team members, caregivers, and other service providers.
  • Attend required training sessions, team meetings, and supervision appointments.
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines, agency policies, and all applicable regulations.
  • Ensure participant safety and maintain a supportive, respectful environment at all times.
QualificationsRequired
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification and/or State Certified Behavior Technician (CBT) license (as applicable by state or contract requirements).
  • Must be supervised by the client's BCBA or BCaBA.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Current CPR certification, if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray, if applicable.
  • Current health certificate, as required by contract or state regulation.
Preferred
  • One (1) year of relevant experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral challenges, or special needs.
  • Associate degree in Behavioral Studies, Psychology, Education, Human Services, Social Work, or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with participants and team members.
  • Excellent observation and documentation skills.

Work Environment

The Adult Living Skills (ALS) Program serves adults with developmental and behavioral support needs in community, center-based, and residential settings. The RBT may provide services in a variety of environments, including community locations, participants' homes, vocational settings, and program facilities.
