You are required to maintain primary residency in one of the above states, to maintain employment with Ottawa University.
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for high quality face-to-face and/or online instruction for adult learning in an Adjunct faculty role in assigned theory (didactic) course, at assigned clinical sites or campus skills or simulation lab. Primary responsibility is to teach, monitor, and evaluate students in didactic course and clinical settings at various clinical sites (medical facilities and community agencies). The faculty member is committed to academic excellence in all areas of teaching and learning including theory, laboratory, and clinical instruction. Must demonstrate success through instruction, collaboration with various stakeholders, and active engagement within the discipline. Responsible for contributing to Ottawa's educational programming and academic integrity.
Ottawa University is accepting applications for potential openings for Adjunct Instructor positions. The need for these positions is undetermined at this time and is dependent on operational need including enrollment and staffing If a need arises, the department will select candidates from this general adjunct posting. We do periodically post adjunct instructor positions for specific areas and needs you will need to apply as you see those become available.
If you are interested in teaching in a university setting, it can be helpful to gain experience as an adjunct instructor. Many of our adjunct instructors hold a full-time career elsewhere, and choose to teach in our evening, weekend, and online programs so that they may have the opportunity to teach students.
Ottawa University employs adjunct instructors to teach undergraduate/graduate level coursework for its adult campuses. Each location has an Academic Coordinator/Academic Dean dedicated to hiring for adjunct teaching responsibilities.

Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION: (education based on essential job duties and requirements consistent with business necessity):
For Kansas faculty: Earned Doctorate or a master's degree in Nursing or related field. For Wisconsin faculty: Earned Doctorate in Nursing or Earned Doctorate with earned master's degree in Nursing. For Arizona faculty: a) If providing didactic instruction, hold a graduate degree with a major in nursing. If the graduate degree is not in nursing, a minimum of a baccalaureate degree in nursing; b) if providing clinical instruction only, a baccalaureate degree with a major in nursing.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: (experience based on requirements in role and are consistent with business necessity):
For Kansas faculty: Three years of academic and professional teaching experience within the teaching content. For Wisconsin faculty: At least two years of experience of professional teaching experience within the teaching content. For Arizona faculty: At least two years of experience as a registered nursing providing direct patient care for didactic faculty; if hold baccalaureate degree in nursing and providing clinical instruction only, a minimum of three years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: List required and/or preferred certification, industry specific requirements, required or preferred use of equipment, and all necessary job skills, abilities, and knowledge competencies) Provide a list of items below:
  • Kansas Faculty: Hold current Kansas and Missouri licenses as registered nurse or multi-state license nursing license with eligbility to practice in both states.
  • Arizona Faculty: Hold current Arizona registered nurse license in good standing or multi-state privilege to practice in Arizona
  • Wisconsin Faculty: Hold current Wisconsin registered nurse license in good standing or multi-state privilege to practice in Wisconsin
  • Experience with Blackboard or other similar online course platforms.
  • Experience with Zoom, Skype, or WebEx

Working Conditions
  • Prolonged periods of sitting must be able to lift 5-15 pounds at times.
  • It may require the use of building stairs.
  • It may require evening and/or weekend work.
  • The position sits and works in front of a computer screen.
