What are Adtech Engineers?

Adtech Engineers are technology professionals who design, develop, and maintain software systems used in the digital advertising industry. They work on platforms that enable the buying, selling, targeting, and analysis of online ads, such as ad servers, real-time bidding systems, and data management platforms. Their role often involves integrating advertising technologies, optimizing ad delivery, and ensuring compliance with privacy regulations. Adtech Engineers collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and marketers to deliver effective advertising solutions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Adtech Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Adtech Engineer, you need a solid background in computer science, programming (especially JavaScript, Python, or Java), and a clear understanding of digital advertising technologies and protocols. Familiarity with ad servers, programmatic platforms (like Google Ad Manager or The Trade Desk), SDKs, APIs, and industry certifications such as IAB Digital Ad Operations are highly valued. Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills help you navigate complex integrations and work effectively with product, sales, and analytics teams. These skills are essential to optimize ad delivery, ensure technical compliance, and drive successful advertising outcomes in a rapidly evolving ecosystem.

Job description

Description:

Digital Envoy (DE) is the leader in geolocation and VPN data for over 25 years for customers in various verticals- Streaming Media, Ad Tech, Cybersecurity, E-commerce, and Data Analytics. Our core product, IP address geolocation, powers customers like Netflix, Hulu, Trade Desk, PayPal, AWS, Apple, and many others. Our VPN and Proxy data, coupled with accurate IP address geolocation, helps companies determine malicious activity for threat intelligence, authentication, and digital privacy.

We are looking for a deeply technical and customer-facing implementation manager to support our newest and fast-growing solution, LocID. LocID is a fixed geospatial identifier that gives advertisers, DSPs, and publishers a stable, privacy-safe alternative to IP-based targeting. This hybrid role owns customer implementation and integration success.

The ideal candidate will take ownership and thrive on serving as the technical authority for LocID integrations, working directly with DSPs, SSPs, CTV platforms, and identity partners. You will own implementation success from architecture review through onboarding, troubleshooting, and post-launch optimization.

This role requires strong hands-on technical experience, strong AdTech knowledge, and the ability to confidently guide partners through complex identity and infrastructure conversations.

This person can work remotely from any of the following states: California (CA), Colorado (CO), Connecticut (CT), Florida (FL), Georgia (GA), Kentucky (KY), Massachusetts (MA), Michigan (MI), New York (NY), New Jersey (NJ), North Carolina (NC), Pennsylvania (PA), South Carolina (SC), Tennessee (TN), Texas (TX), Virginia (VA), Washington (WA).

Georgia residents are encouraged and welcomed to join us a couple days/week in our Peachtree Corners, Georgia office.

Please note, at this time, Digital Envoy is not sponsoring visas for this position.

WHAT YOUโ€™LL DO:

  • Lead technical onboarding and implementation of LocID with DSPs, SSPs, publishers, and CTV platforms
  • Serve as the technical voice of LocID on calls with partner engineering, identity, and platform teams
  • Evaluate partner system architectures to ensure alignment with LocID product requirements
  • Troubleshoot integration issues across application, OS, network, and cloud environments
  • Test and validate APIs using tools such as Postman or cURL
  • Work closely with Engineering and Product to escalate issues, provide technical feedback, and influence roadmap decisions
  • Explain complex identity, ad-serving, and data-flow concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Confidently push back and guide partners when assumptions or implementations are misaligned
  • Whiteboard or diagram system architectures live during calls when needed
  • Support identity discussions including ID graphs, volatility, segment refreshes, data leakage risks, and privacy considerations
  • Ensure successful implementations before, during, and after onboarding
  • Maintain detailed documentation, FAQs, and implementation of best practices
  • Support global partners with flexibility across time zones

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • Competitive Salary & Bonus program
  • Medical, Dental and Vision
  • Paid Holidays & Unlimited PTO policy
  • 401(k) with employer contribution match
  • We value your input: make a real impact in a growing, innovative company!
Requirements:

WHO YOU ARE:

  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in technical implementation, solutions engineering, or technical account management
  • Deep AdTech Experience
  • Strong experience troubleshooting Java/JVM-based applications
  • Solid Linux OS experience (required); Windows Server experience a plus
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, S3, console)
  • Ability to troubleshoot application + OS interactions
  • API testing and debugging experience (Postman, cURL, etc.)
  • General networking and web hosting infrastructure knowledge
  • Strong understanding of AdTech ecosystems, including DSPs, SSPs, CTV platforms, OpenRTB bid flow, Private Marketplaces, server-side vs. client-side ad delivery and measurement vs. activation use cases
  • Experience supporting identity products, IP-based targeting, or ID graphs
  • Ability to translate highly technical concepts for commercial and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable operating in a fast-growing environment
