Job description

General Aviation Piston Engine | Assistant Director of Aviation Maintenance (ADOM)

Location: Englewood, CO — Centennial Airport

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent (W2) — Long-Term Placement Only

About the Client

A well-regarded general aviation maintenance hub at Centennial Airport, known across the GA community for rigorous safety standards, strict regulatory adherence, and a professional hangar culture that runs consistently from shift to shift. The organization promotes from within, rewards institutional knowledge, and is actively looking for a long-term addition to its leadership team — not a stopgap. Candidates looking for a stable home base to build a management career will find it here.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $ 80,000 to 110,000/year

  • Relocation Assistance: Full relocation package available for qualified out-of-area candidates prepared to relocate to the Englewood/Denver metro

  • Shift: Standard 5x8 workweek as a baseline; strong potential to convert to a 4x10 structure based on workflow and Director of Maintenance sign-off

Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Aviation Maintenance serves as a direct operational pillar alongside the Director of Maintenance, keeping a state-of-the-art facility running to spec — on time, in compliance, and staffed by a high-performing team of technicians. This is a hands-on management seat covering daily workflow coordination, regulatory oversight, quality control, personnel development, and full acting authority in the DOM's absence. The right candidate is a settled, long-tenure-minded aviation professional who wants to plant roots, build a team, and advance within a single well-run organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate daily maintenance activities, assign work orders, track aircraft turnaround times, and maintain budget discipline across all shop operations

  • Maintain absolute FAA compliance across all applicable regulations; oversee maintenance documentation and support quality manual upkeep and internal audit processes

  • Supervise technicians on a daily basis, conduct performance evaluations, guide technical development, and cultivate a shop culture built on accountability and safety

  • Serve as the primary maintenance point of contact for customers and vendors — delivering clear status updates, technical explanations, and accurate cost estimates

  • Step into the Director of Maintenance role with full operational authority whenever the DOM is absent or delegating

  • Track aircraft downtime, monitor quality control metrics, and drive continuous reduction of rework across the team

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate

  • Current Inspection Authorization (IA), or documented active progress toward obtaining one

  • Minimum 5 years of dedicated aircraft maintenance experience, with the most recent consecutive years in a General Aviation environment

  • Minimum 2 years in a Lead A&P, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Management capacity with verifiable team and workflow coordination responsibilities

  • Demonstrated experience working within a FAA Part 145 Repair Station environment — mandatory, not preferred

  • Strong working knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 43, 65, 91, 135, and 145

  • Proficiency with digital aircraft maintenance tracking platforms and MS Office

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

  • Physically able to stand, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs; available for occasional evenings and weekends as operations require

Ideal Qualifications

  • Hands-on piston aircraft experience across common GA platforms (Piper, Diamond, Cessna, or comparable)

  • Track record of strong audit performance, compliance metrics, and clean inspection history

  • Prior customer-facing experience in a maintenance management context

  • Demonstrated history of internal advancement within a single aviation organization
