Job description

The USC Primary Care Physician Assistant Program Division of the Department of Family Medicine at USC is seeking an energetic, team-oriented, experienced Admissions Counselor II to join our team. Candidates must have a collaborative working style and the ability to multitask in a graduate-level environment.

The program has been in existence since 1972 and is housed at the Health Science - Alhambra campus. This position has remote work opportunities.

Essential job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies that align with the mission and goals of the USC Primary Care Physician Assistant Program.

  • Assess the effectiveness of recruitment and outreach efforts and recommend or implement modifications as needed.

  • Plan, coordinate, and participate in recruitment and outreach events.

  • Represent the program at in-person college fairs and other recruitment activities.

  • Plan and participate in virtual recruitment activities, including information sessions, Pre-Health and Pre-PA club presentations, college fairs, and other outreach events.

  • Review and evaluate applications in accordance with the program's mission, admissions policies, and established guidelines.

  • Counsel prospective applicants in person and virtually regarding the application process, prerequisites, admissions requirements, and other program expectations.

  • Respond to prospective student and applicant inquiries through in-person, virtual, email, and telephone communication.

  • Review applicant and student records, enter and maintain data, update application information, and generate correspondence, reports, and lists using student and admissions databases.

  • Lead and assist in the development of communications and marketing materials that promote the PA program, including Mailchimp communications, brochures, flyers, digital advertising campaigns, presentations, and other recruitment materials.

  • Lead and assist with major program and admissions events, including Interview Days, new student orientation, program retreats, and other special events.

  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and university partners to support recruitment, admissions, and program initiatives.

  • Serve on department or university committees as requested and participate in special projects and short-term assignments as needed.

  • Support recruitment efforts designed to reach and engage prospective applicants from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Experience in admissions and recruitment in an academic or higher education setting, including knowledge of transfer credit policies and financial aid programs.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to gather, analyze, evaluate, and assess large amounts of physical and digital data.

  • Demonstrated skills in interviewing, counseling, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and decision-making.

  • Proven ability to interpret, analyze, and apply relevant policies, procedures, regulations, and requirements.

  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities and priorities.

  • Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills, with the ability to communicate tactfully and professionally with staff and diverse individuals and groups.

  • Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills, including the ability to guide diverse, high-performing teams and foster an environment of trust, collaboration, transparency, and accountability.

  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and public-speaking skills, including experience developing communication plans, instructional materials, presentations, and related content.

  • Must be available to work knighted and weekends on occasion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in admissions, recruitment, higher education, student services, or a related area.

  • Experience working with customer relationship management (CRM), admissions, or student information systems.

  • Experience with social media, digital communications, and recruitment marketing.

  • Experience using workplace communication and productivity platforms, such as Microsoft Office, Zoom, Slack, and similar tools.

  • Experience developing and implementing recruitment and outreach strategies designed to engage prospective applicants from a broad range of backgrounds.

Follows established USC and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, includingadherence to theworkplaceCode of Conduct and Compliance Plan.

This position is fully remote and must report to Health Science Campus - Alhambra when needed. Work hours and on-site days may be subject to change depending on business needs.

The annual budgeted salary range for this position is$66,962.45-$73,819.68. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
