Description of Work
The Assistant Director of Admissions will have direct responsibility for undergraduate recruitment efforts for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. This individual will coordinate undergraduate recruitment efforts for transfer, military, low-income, and first generation prospective students. This team member will also provide supervision for assigned recruitment areas. The team member will supervise multiple staff in the office and will serve as a consultant to many other teams and campus partners on transfer, military, low-income, and first generation prospective students. This position will serve as a liaison between UNL and high schools, community programs, and community colleges and will help grow partnerships for the university. This person will work with associate director to set priorities as it relates to transfer, military, low-income and first generation prospective students. The position will provide updates to associate director on analysis of data and ensure that goals are met; actions taken consistent with this analysis and provide recommendations on recruitment strategies; interpretation of recruitment policies and exercises authority and independent judgment in making recruitment decisions on a case-by-case basis.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree plus two years in education, business, communication, or related field.
  • Ability to clearly communicate via written and spoken forums.
  • Supervisory or similar experiences
  • Ability to analyze data and use information to make decisions connected to recruitment strategies and tactics
  • Public speaking experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skill .
  • Willingness to travel
  • Proven ability to work independently and with little or no supervision, little or no clerical support.
  • Experience with developing team members
  • Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Salesforce or another Client Relationship System (CRM).
  • Experience with undergraduate recruitment at large public institutions.
  • Knowledge of UNL and its challenges and opportunities connected to undergraduate student recruitment.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish.
  • Event planning experience.
  • Experience catering communication to meet the needs of various populations.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Familiarity with UNL s High School and College Relations operations and procedures.
