Job description

Overview
Registered Nurse – Emergency Department travel assignment in a hospital setting, Middlebury, Vermont, United States. Start date: 09/28/2026 for 16 weeks. Weekly pay: 2,520 to 2,705 per week. Guaranteed hours: 0. Shift: 12-hour nights (3x12). This assignment involves working in a hospital ED with a dynamic, fast-paced patient population and a collaborative care team.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department, including initial assessment, triage, and ongoing monitoring of diverse patient populations
- Administer medications, initiate IV access, perform vascular access and line checks, and manage drips/infusions per protocol
- Interpret ECGs, order and monitor labs, administer life-saving interventions, and coordinate with physicians for rapid decision-making
- Document care in the electronic medical record (Epic) and ensure accurate medication administration using the Pyxis system
- Support patient transports and determine appropriate disposition, including STEMI, stroke, trauma transfers as needed
- Collaborate with ED team, including ED techs, charge nurse, and mid-level providers; participate in on-call/after-hours coverage as required
Requirements
- Active registered nursing license (in the state of assignment)
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, ENPC, NRP, NIHSS, and TNCC
- TNCC must be current in packet and NIHSS required prior to start
- Experience: minimum 2 years of ED/acute care clinical experience; at least 2 years in the specialty; one prior travel assignment preferred; EPIC experience within the past 2 years
- Additional qualifications: charge nurse experience preferred; ability to work in a high-volume ED and adapt to rotating shifts; capable of performing procedures such as IV starts, EKGs, and IV drips/infusions
- Holidays: must be flexible; travel assignments may require working 2 out of 4 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Day)
