Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Admissions will support recruitment, outreach, evaluation, and yield efforts for the Full-Time MBA program, with a focus on managing the interview process and planning campus events. You will have full ownership of the interviewing system, build and maintain relationships with students and alumni, represent Michigan Ross at admissions events, and contribute to office and program initiatives that promote an inclusive and accessible applicant experience. You will participate in application evaluation, support admissions events and engagement campaigns, and manage assigned projects related to outreach, communications, and their specialty. You will report to the Senior Associate Director of Full-Time MBA Admissions.
This role is hybrid with an on-site expectation of 3 days per week in Ann Arbor, MI, and requires occasional early morning, evening, and weekend work. Travel is required, particularly during the peak recruitment season, typically May-November. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain that authorization throughout employment.

Responsibilities*
  • Interview and Event Management (30%)
    • Manage the FTMBA interview process.
    • Recruit, coordinate training for, and manage the scheduling of all FTMBA interviewers (students and alumni).
    • Coordinate feedback and ongoing training.
    • Collect and analyze data related to admissions interviews to manage the quality/consistency of interviews.
    • Lead FTMBA team discussions on interview trends, analysis of questions, and process improvements.
    • Maintain high-touch communication practices with all FTMBA applicants and interviewers. This provides exceptional support and guidance throughout the interview process. Strategies include keeping applicants informed, engaged, and aligned with interview timelines and requirements.
    • Manage online interview scheduling tool: research, benchmark, and integrate new processes and technology to improve the efficiency and quality of the interview system.
    • Provide data analysis of interview outcomes.
    • Manage Alumni/Admissions Program.
  • Admissions Event Planning (40%)
    • Represent the school at recruitment events, including virtual and in-person information sessions both on and off campus.
    • Deliver presentations, engage attendees, and ensure smooth event logistics
    • Manage assigned event logistics, communications, registrations, materials, student volunteers, and post-event follow-up.
    • Be primary contact for prospective students, providing detailed information on admissions requirements and program specifics.
    • Conduct follow-up outreach by email, text, and phone to guide prospective students throughout the cycle (recruitment through Orientation).
    • Participate in MBA Programming Events including Orientation, ALE, WILC, and others.
    • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for assigned student groups.
    • Collect and summarize event feedback and participation data to inform future improvements.
    • Committee Chair for Recruiting and Yield events
    • Lead planner for Military Preview Weekend.
  • Evaluation and Processing (10%)
    • Independently review and score applications, ensuring fair application of admissions standards.
    • Verify applicant materials for accuracy and completeness, addressing discrepancies and missing documentation.
    • Maintain applicant data in the CRM system to support tracking, reporting, and strategic planning.
    • Participate in application reader training.
    • Support fair and holistic application review practices.
    • Be an applicant Interviewer.
    • As a level 2 reviewer, make admissions recommendations as part of the committee review process.
  • Data, Communications, and Process Improvement (10%)
    • Use CRM, event, application, and engagement data to track outreach activity and support recruitment decisions.
    • Identify opportunities to improve communications, workflows, applicant experience, and recruitment operations.
    • Help with technology tools and process improvements that improve efficiency and service quality.
    • Prepare reports, summaries, and recommendations related to recruitment, event participation, and applicant engagement.
    • Support updates to admissions communications, web content, and outreach materials.
  • Team Collaboration and Operational Support (10%)
    • Contribute to the FTMBA team ecosystem, honoring the team's mission and values.
    • Collaborate with admissions colleagues and other partners to support enrollment and outreach goals.
    • , including assisting with on-campus events, providing campus tours, and supporting prospective students throughout the admissions cycle.
    • Represent the team as an FTMBA Ambassador throughout campus.
    • Support special projects and ensure compliance with university policies and ethical admissions standards.
    • Serve as FTMBA Department Liaison.

Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience in a professional environment, preferably in college admissions, or equivalent combination of education and related experience in project planning, task organization, and customer service.
  • Experience assessing candidates, evaluating talent, and building relationships within Admissions, Recruiting or Marketing
  • Previous experience executing logistics
  • Experience writing communications (i.e., emails, meeting agendas and notes, summary documents, etc) that are used with various audiences.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office, plus other database, email and calendar-keeping software and technologies.
  • Technical aptitude, with demonstrated ability to adapt to new applications and technologies.
  • CRM system experience, such as Salesforce.
  • Experience in working in cross-functional environment, coordinating multiple streams of work, and managing competing priorities and deadlines
  • Experience in public speaking to variously-sized audiences

Additional Information
The salary offer range for this position is $53,500 to $66,100. Salary offers are determined based on several factors, including a candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications, along with internal equity considerations. It is not common for new hires to be placed at the top of the range.

This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the University Staff United (USU), which represents bargaining unit members in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
