Job description

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATOR

As an Assistant Administrator, you will partner closely with the community Administrator to oversee the daily operations of an assisted living community. You'll serve as a key member of the leadership team, helping ensure exceptional resident care, employee engagement, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the day-to-day management and operation of the assisted living community.
  • Providing leadership, coaching, and support to department managers, supervisors, and frontline employees.
  • Helping recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, and develop employees.
  • Monitoring staffing needs and assisting with scheduling and workforce planning.
  • Ensuring compliance with Minnesota assisted living regulations, licensing standards, company policies, and resident rights.
  • Conducting employee investigations, incident reviews, and assisting with performance management and corrective action.
  • Supporting quality assurance initiatives, audits, policy implementation, and survey readiness.
  • Working collaboratively with nursing, social services, dietary, maintenance, housekeeping, and life enrichment departments to ensure exceptional resident outcomes.
  • Assisting with admissions, resident assessments, discharge planning, and family communication.
  • Monitoring documentation, incident reporting, medication systems, and operational processes for compliance and quality.
  • Assisting with budgeting, purchasing, occupancy initiatives, and overall operational performance.
  • Responding to emergencies and helping ensure the safety and well-being of residents and employees.
  • Serving as the Administrator's designee when appropriate to ensure continuity of operations.

  • Minnesota Assisted Living Director (LALD) license preferred or the ability to obtain licensure.
  • Previous leadership or management experience in assisted living, long-term care, healthcare, or human services preferred.
  • Knowledge of Minnesota assisted living regulations and licensing requirements is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coach and develop employees while fostering a culture of accountability and teamwork.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems is preferred.
  • Must successfully pass all required background studies and meet applicable employment requirements.
