Effective communication with development teams and end-users is often required to resolve technical issues quickly. Staying updated with the latest PHP versions and security practices is essential for success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Administrator PHP?

To thrive as an Administrator PHP, you need strong knowledge of PHP programming, server management, and web security principles, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with web servers (such as Apache or Nginx), database systems (like MySQL), and configuration management tools is typically required, and certifications like Zend Certified PHP Engineer can be advantageous. Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help administrators manage complex systems and collaborate with development teams. Job description

We are seeking a dependable Linux Systems Administrator with strong command-line experience to help support and maintain our production server environment. This role focuses primarily on Linux system administration, safe deployments, log monitoring, and operational support in a PCI-DSS compliant environment.

Because our infrastructure workload does not fully occupy a systems-only position, this role will also contribute to backend development projects using PHP/MySQL within our LAMP stack (Laravel experience is a plus).

All office workstations run Windows, so occasional internal Windows troubleshooting may also be part of the role.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys both infrastructure and backend development and wants to grow their skills in a stable, security-conscious environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing and maintaining Linux servers via CLI
  • Support production deployments and releases
  • Monitor application and system logs for errors or anomalies
  • Help troubleshoot system, database, and application issues
  • Write and maintain Bash scripts as needed
  • Contribute to PHP/MySQL development projects
  • Work within Git-based workflows
  • Provide occasional Windows workstation support in the office

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience working with Linux via the command line
  • Experience supporting production or staging environments
  • Working knowledge of MySQL/MariaDB
  • Experience using Git for version control
  • Strong attention to detail and a cautious approach to live systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • PHP development experience
  • Familiarity with the LAMP stack
  • Experience with Laravel
  • Exposure to compliance or security-focused environments (PCI-DSS a plus)
  • Basic Windows troubleshooting experience

What We Value

  • Careful, methodical problem-solving
  • Clear communication
  • Willingness to ask questions rather than make risky assumptions
  • Interest in growing both systems and development skills

Compensation based on experience.

No remote work.
