Residency Program Director & Clinical Associate/Full Professor – Department of Psychiatry

The University of Florida Department of Psychiatry seeks an Associate or Full Professor to serve as full-time (1.0 FTE) Residency Program Director for an ACGME‑accredited Psychiatry Residency Program. The program currently has approximately 49 residents, with plans to expand to 56, and involves training across all psychiatry and subspecialty areas. The Director will oversee program administration, teaching, scholarly activity, resident recruitment and selection, evaluation, promotion, discipline, supervision, and faculty development, ensuring alignment with ACGME Common and Program‑Specific Requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assign clinical rotations to ensure appropriate supervision and progressive responsibility.
  • Lead the annual program review process with the Program Evaluation Committee.
  • Evaluate the quality of clinical teaching units and didactic curriculum.
  • Support resident career planning and counseling.
  • Oversee candidate selection in alignment with GME Committee policies.
  • Assess resident performance and provide post‑graduate training verification.
  • Supervise associate program directors, faculty, and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all institutional, accrediting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Allocate a minimum of 0.50 FTE for administrative program duties; the remainder of the time is devoted to clinical care, teaching, and research for funded investigators.
  • Prior experience working with residents and medical students is required. Cross‑departmental collaboration and participation in interdisciplinary research are strongly encouraged.
Required Qualifications
  • M.D. or D.O. (or equivalent).
  • Board certification in Psychiatry (ABPN or AOBNP).
  • Eligibility for Florida medical licensure and UF Health medical staff appointment.
  • Full‑time commitment (1.0 FTE) with at least .2 FTE for teaching/supervising.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior teaching experience in a clinical, academic, or administrative role.
  • Previous role as Program Director or Associate Program Director for a residency or fellowship program.
  • Active scholarly activities within the last five years.
  • Demonstrated interest in academic psychiatry.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Leadership or administrative experience.
  • Strong written communication skills.
