Job Description

Rocky Mountain Care is seeking an exceptional Regional Director/VP of Operations to join our Assisted Living leadership team.

Department: Operations

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Reporting to this position: Administrators/ Executive Directors

Job Classification: Administrative/Leadership/Management

Position Purpose: Leads, guides and directs the operations of the healthcare facility in accordance with local, state and federal regulations, standards and established facility policies and procedures to provide appropriate care and services to residents.

Our Culture

At Rocky Mountain Care, we believe in treating people as people. Residents aren't room numbers, employees aren't staffing numbers, and leaders aren't simply positions on an organizational chart. We believe relationships matter, people deserve to feel valued, and the way we achieve results matters just as much as the results themselves.

Our Mission, Vision, and Values

Our Mission, Vision, and Values guide how we care for our residents, support our employees, and lead our communities. We're looking for an RDO/VP who can bring those values to life—someone who develops people, creates accountability without losing compassion, and understands that exceptional culture and exceptional performance should go hand in hand.

The Role

We are looking for a proven Assisted Living leader who knows how to build strong teams, develop Administrators, drive operational performance, and create communities where residents and employees genuinely want to be.

This is a hands-on regional leadership role. The RDO/VP will partner closely with facility Administrators to strengthen operations, identify opportunities, create accountability, and achieve excellent results across census, financial performance, staffing, resident satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.

Travel throughout the assigned region (Utah and one location in Wyoming) is required.

Position includes:
  • Car Allowance/Stipend
  • Cell phone reimbursement
Major Duties and Key Responsibilities
  • Directs the overall operations of company facilities in accordance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, governing-body guidelines, and company standards.
  • Oversees facility programs, services, and activities to support regulatory compliance, operational excellence, quality outcomes, customer satisfaction, and financial performance.
  • Partners with each administrator to establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) process. Evaluates results and identifies opportunities for corrective action, re-education, process improvement, or leadership intervention.
  • Provides administrators with guidance on operational and financial processes that support the fiscal health and long-term success of each facility.
  • Partners with administrators to develop and execute census, occupancy, and revenue strategies that improve facility performance and financial sustainability.
  • Leads regular management meetings with facility leaders to establish priorities, address performance trends, and develop solutions related to census, collections, clinical outcomes, survey readiness, customer satisfaction, activity participation, and other key operational priorities.

  • Supports the recruitment and retention of qualified administrators and other key personnel in partnership with Human Resources to build strong, capable leadership teams.
  • Conducts regular facility visits and rounds to assess resident needs, facility conditions, cleanliness, employee engagement, and overall operations. Maintains an open-door leadership approach and remains accessible to employees at all levels.
  • Ensures compassionate, high-quality resident care through effective interdisciplinary collaboration, adequate and competent staffing, low employee turnover, appropriate facility conditions, and optimal resident functioning, both physically and psychosocially.
  • Collaborates with administrators, interdisciplinary teams, physicians, consultants, community agencies, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for enhanced services and resolve operational or resident-related concerns.
  • Promotes a culture of teamwork, mutual respect, effective communication, positivity, accountability, and proactive problem-solving.
  • Oversees staff development and periodically observes in-service education to ensure educators possess the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively train employees.
  • Leads the annual budget-development process with each administrator and reviews monthly financial statements to assess performance, identify trends, and provide relevant financial information to the governing board.
  • Prepares and delivers written and oral reports and recommendations to the governing board regarding facility operations, financial performance, regulatory matters, and other significant issues.
  • Serves as a professional and public representative of the organization and communicates confidently and effectively on a variety of topics to audiences with diverse backgrounds and levels of education.

  • Leads facility regulatory and survey-readiness efforts, including preparation for health inspections, OSHA inspections, mock surveys, and other regulatory reviews. Ensures identified deficiencies are addressed promptly and that plans of correction are accurate, implemented, and completed within required timelines.
  • Ensures reportable incidents, including allegations of abuse, neglect, mistreatment, or misappropriation, are investigated and reported to the appropriate regulatory entities within required timeframes.
  • Promotes a culture of resident safety, abuse prevention, and compliance while reinforcing safe work practices, safety rules, and accident-prevention procedures to reduce employee injuries and illness.
  • Responds to and resolves complaints and concerns as appropriate, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Coordinates with General Counsel and the Chief Risk Officer regarding litigation, claims, and other risk-management matters involving company facilities.
  • Stays informed of regulatory, operational, business, and industry developments that may affect facility performance and implements necessary changes to support continued success.
  • Serves as a change agent when needed to improve facility performance, strengthen processes, and achieve organizational objectives.
