Position Summary
The Staff Accountant plays a critical role in the Finance & Administration office, responsible for all general accounting functions, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, posting journal entries, and ensuring compliance with University policies and external regulations. The Staff Accountant will contribute to the overall financial health of the University by performing general accounting tasks, bank reconciliations, month-end close tasks, and providing support to various departments. The Staff Accountant will also assist in the preparation for the annual audits.
Essential Duties
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
  • Reconcile and maintain various general ledger accounts.
  • Process and review accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
  • Support the annual financial audit by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Ensure compliance with University policies, procedures, and relevant accounting standards.
  • Prepare and submit required tax forms and reports.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies, procedures, and external regulatory requirements (e.g., IRS, NCAA).
  • Provide financial analysis and support to various University departments as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the implementation of new accounting systems or procedures.

Secondary Responsibilities
  • Reconcile Student AR and cashier's Daily Cash Report in SFS office.
  • Other duties ass assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree.
  • 1-2 years of accounting or related experience.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with Banner.
  • Previous accounting or related experience in a higher education or non-profit organization.

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours
  • This is an on-site position that requires regular on-campus, in-person work to support departmental operations, collaborate with campus partners, and effectively perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Early, late, or weekend hours may be required during peak times.
