Job description

Assistant School Nurse

Location: Williston Central School

This position will remain open until filled. However, applications received within the first seven days of posting will receive priority consideration. Internal candidates will also be prioritized over external applicants during this initial seven-day window.

Williston Central School (WCS) has an opening for a school year Assistant School Nurse with an anticipated schedule of 5.5 hours / day, 5 days / week.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Current, valid RN license in Vermont or an active RN license from a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state
  • CPR certified
  • School health/Public health or pediatric nursing experience preferred
  • Proficient in technology
  • Comfortable using Google Workspace tools for document creation, file management, communication, and collaboration

Areas of student health care responsibilities include:

  • Assessment
  • First aid
  • Health screening
  • Medication administration
  • Assist in communicable disease control
  • Immunization assessment
  • Assessment and care of students with special needs

Additional areas of responsibility include:

  • Compilation of statistical information
  • Maintenance of health and medication records/logs
  • Accident reporting
  • Member of student support teams
  • Updating student health emergency information
  • Preparation of required state reports providing staff and parents with information of school health policies, and other pertinent health resource information
  • Providing interpretation of health information to staff and parents
  • Promoting a healthy school environment
