Our client is growing quickly. We are looking for a full-time Systems Administrator to be part of their team in Kitchener. They provide the latest technologies in digital phone, high speed internet, web hosting, cloud and managed services.

Position Overview:

The Systems Administrator position covers all aspects of the business operations, and is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This candidate participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.

This candidate is accountable for the following systems: Linux and Windows systems that support the operation and infrastructure of our Managed Service Provider and Internet Service Provider lines of business; Responsibilities on these systems include administration engineering and provisioning, operations and support, maintenance and research and development to ensure continual innovation.

The clients success is driven by strong Customer service and innovative approach to solutions which couldn’t be possible without a commitment to teamwork.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Perform system migrations via Hyper-V and VMware.
  • Perform daily system monitoring to ensure availability and integrity of all hardware.
  • Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled tasks.
  • Ensure systems are fully patched and up to date.
  • Ensure backups are completed and verified successfully.
  • Deploy, maintain and troubleshoot our rapidly expanding infrastructure.
  • Deploy and configure servers with associated hardware and peripherals.
  • Migrate and maintain customer email platforms.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot infrastructure issues internally and for customers.
  • Ensure documentation is up to date and maintained.
  • Monitor and maintain data centers at various locations.
  • Monitor systems for uptime, security and availability.
  • Provide tier 2/3 technical support when required.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • 5+ Years Windows System Administration experience.
  • 2+ Years Linux System Administration experience.
  • Strong understanding of network and storage fundamentals.
  • Strong understanding of monitoring software.
  • Microsoft Certification (MCSA or MCSE) or equivalent certification in relevant programs.
  • HyperV, VMware or equivalent certification in relevant programs.
  • Experience managing enterprise virtualized environments in HyperV or VMware.
  • Experience managing enterprise scale email deployments.
  • Experience administrating Windows Server and Active Directory.
  • Experience deploying and managing NAS and SAN storage environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bonus for experience in an MSP environment.
  • Must have a vehicle, valid driver’s license and clean driver's abstract.
