Department Information
Within this setting, the new faculty hire will play a vital role in teaching introductory-level courses for the department in physics or astronomy. The hire must be able to support instruction in both majors and non-majors physics courses in both lecture and laboratory settings. The Department supports core instruction for the University as well as instruction for majors in the College of Science and Mathematics as well as other Colleges.
Job Summary
Reporting to the department chair, the visiting instructor of physics requires excellence in teaching with a 15 contact hour of classroom and / or laboratory instructional load as assigned by the Department. This is an academic year appointment for the months of August 2026-May 2027. All visiting positions are non-tenure track appointments. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Required Qualifications
  • Earned M.S. in physics or a closely related field, by August 1, 2026 with at least 18 graduate semester hours in physics or closely related field.
  • Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
  • Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to teach face-to-face and online courses.
  • Experience teaching at the university / college level.
  • Experience teaching large lecture sections and laboratories

Proposed Salary
Commensurate with experience.
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
