Special Instructions to Applicants
Courses needing adjunct instruction varyfrom semester to semester. Assignments are determined based on expertise ofapplicants. Applications for this position will be accepted on an ongoing basisand will be reviewed as needed. Applicants should indicate which campus or teachingsites they are willing to accept these interim assignments at in their coverletter.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in theUnited States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship. TheUniversity will not sponsor applicants for work visas (e.g., H-1B).
Job Summary
This position instructs in areas in the Art andDesign program, including but not limited to design, painting, drawing,history, graphic design, sculpture, Art Appreciation.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Instruction of assigned classes.
  2. Provide interim and final grades for enrolledstudents.
  3. Provide datafor General Education Curriculum assessment based onstudent achievement in the course as needed.
  4. Be available to student through officehours (face to face or virtual).
  5. Be responsive to students and director/staff via USM email.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsMFA in Art or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of the history of art and of theinfluence of art on culture (for Art Appreciation courses) and/or of studio practices (for studio courses).

Preferred QualificationsExperience in teaching in higher education toteach in online platform.
