Job description

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

 

To ensure that commercial and business relationships and engagements with suppliers and counterparts are handled according to policies, commercial targets, risks and procurement area related best practices for all non-trade procurement categories assigned.

To implement global/regional or local procurement strategies, projects, processes and systems within the adidas NAM organization.

This role is also responsible for maximizing the profitability, demand management, contract management, negotiated pricing adherence and compliance. Developing and facilitating procurement category strategies, procurement auditing of supplier work, all while ensuring visibility and transparency of spend.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Create, support and manage the development and execution of non-trade procurement categories related strategies in alignment with senior management and relevant Business Partners and their Brand objectives.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and sourcing initiatives across the retail pipeline, while leading support areas to ensure prioritization, consistency, and execution at scale.
  • Drive, lead and support supplier selection (tender) processes in alignment with business partners and negotiate contracts up to final authorization including dispute resolution, approving and qualifying vendors, financial terms etc.
  • Emphasis on demand management, price agreement adherence, process improvement, + supplier compliance, as well as supplier pricing reconciliation processes. 
  • Ability to tie contractual terms, key performance indicators, expected deliverable outcomes back to contract, and to hold suppliers accountable for the mutually agreed upon outcomes and financial terms.
  • Ability to analyze, gap analysis of adidas non-trade procurement contracts, actuals, and how to best reconcile when billing and/or performance issues occur.
  • Build business relationships and effectively partner with the relevant stakeholders and the related supplier base within adidas + external supply base.
  • Delivery of market analysis/research and industry/customer engagement to ensure robust business cases and sourcing plans for the adidas.
  • Drive and support the creation and implementation of sourcing and supplier strategies and ensure compliance with procurement policies, standards and guidelines
  • Review, administer + advise on best practices in contract management, compliance, and risk management to ensure maximum value delivery to adidas for goods and services rendered. Bring innovative solutions and best practices  to contract management, as well as demand management and contract terms, conditions and pricing.
  • Development and management of a pricing compliance, monitoring + reconciliation process with non-trade rostered suppliers in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams in defined procurement and general development projects as well as pro-actively supporting other team members in their tasks and activities.
  • Generate operational overhead efficiencies, pricing reconciliation processes, and budgetary scrutiny on spend patterns/behaviors for reporting, and improvement opportunities with adidas budget.
  • Continuous learning and development of procurement knowledge and methodologies driving innovation and continuous improvement within the procurement function
  • Influence cross-functional decision-making by providing procurement insights on cost, risk, and supplier capabilities. Act as an ambassador of procurement within the organization.

  • North America stakeholders in finance, legal, marketing, workplaces, corporate real estate and construction, retail, supply chain, IT, and other priority non-trade procurement areas of focus.
  • Global and Regional (EMEA, APAC, LAM, Etc,) Counterparts in finance, legal, marketing, workplaces, corporate real estate and construction, retail, supply chain, IT, and other priority non-trade procurement areas of focus. as well as global counterparts + GBS; Suppliers; Requestors; GBS Procurement Specialists; GBS Helpdesk Agents
  • Suppliers : work with key adidas suppliers on communication, negotiation, contract adherence, statement of work, scope of work adherence, reconciliation, return on investment or advertisement spend and continuous joint process improvement opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of sourcing and procurement methodologies and concepts, such as TCO and life cycle of products/services, business partnering
  • Knowledge of supply base within the non-trade procurement categories of focus and availability of products/services, bottleneck criteria (market and pricing), cost levers, new technologies and procedural best practices
  • Knowledge of brand strategy and application in non-trade procurement, as well as finance.
  • Proven ability to drive category strategy and setup supplier selection and management. Proven ability to drive cost adherence, reconciliation, negotiation, and contract observance.
  • Ability to support and develop sourcing strategies in order to face market trends. Ability to identify market trends, as well as bringing in outside in perspective on market trends, conditions, competitive landscape, and future cost or supply chain trends, and how they impact the upstream and downstream of adidas business.
  • Knowledge and experience in stakeholders and supplier relationship management, Employment Contracts, Work-Labor Contracts, Claim Management, Liability, Warranty and (inter)national procurement related legislation
  • Excellent analytical, presentation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Deep analytical prowess and expertise around writing, reviewing, administering, and reconciling contracts to provide maximum performance while ensuring cost agreements are adhered to fully.
  • Action oriented and solution minded team player with high degree of self-management
  • Capability to independently interact throughout the organization
  • Project management knowledge and experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office,  SAP/SRM a plus

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications: 

 

  • A bachelor's or master's degree with emphasis on the areas of business, economics, finance, procurement or legal, or comparable professional education.
  • 8 years of general business experience, preferably in Procurement area
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in procurement activities related to industrial construction projects with a design, civil, structural, and/or mechanical scope. 
  • Retail project management experience which includes new-construction and remodeling projects or any other retail operation needs.
  • Knowledge of contracting concepts and contract acquisition law and regulations as related to planning, design, and construction/design services.
  • Understanding and/or experience with marketing procurement categories such as creative services, strategy, media, public relations, and events.

    Employees are eligible to earn an annual bonus based on both company and personal performance. Employees accrue prorated flexible time off in the amount .4388 hours per day that increases with years of service, twelve paid holidays throughout the calendar year and Service Time Off during milestone years.
    At adidas we offer a Hybrid work policy which requires attendance in the office Monday through Thursday, with the flexibility to work remotely on Friday each week. For work requiring a high degree of collaboration or an in-person presentation, in-office attendance is required even on Friday.  
    The working location of this position is Portland, Oregon.
