Job description

As an AM engineer at DEEP Manufacturing, youย are responsible forย taking designs and realising them through wire arc manufacturing, your input willย directly linkย to the quality of the finished part.ย ย 

We areย seekingย a skilled and detail-orientated additive manufacturing engineerย to join ourย technicalย team. As an additive manufacturing engineer, you willย play a pivotal role in developingย unique solutions that address our business needsย andย capitaliseย on additive manufacturing technologies.ย 

In this role, you will work closely with ourย technologyย development andย productionย teamย toย develop and produce parts forย Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing.ย ย 

Requirements

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop toolpaths for Directed Energy Deposition (DED)-arc.ย 
  • Work closely with the production team to capture design-related issues during manufacturing and implement continual design improvements.ย 
  • Drive the transition and optimisation ofย designs forย low-volume, complex components from traditional manufacturing to additive manufacturing techniques.ย ย 
  • Utilise innovative thinking to exploit the benefits of additive manufacturing while effectively addressing its limitations.ย 
  • Work closely with the technology development team to ensureย engineeringย designs are compatible withย enhancedย manufacturing techniques,ย processesย and material development.ย 
  • Create drawings related to the manufacture of Additive Manufactured parts.ย 
  • Establish design limitations of the DED-arc and integrate these into the product development cycle.ย 
  • Share design knowledge and best practices with the team to support continuous learning.ย 

Minimum Qualifications and Experienceย 

  • Bachelor's,ย Master'sย degreeย or PHDย inย Engineering, Design,ย Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.ย 
  • Minimum ofย 3ย years relevant work experience in engineering, with a focus on production and manufacturing.ย 
  • Proficiencyย in CAD/CAM softwareย ย 
  • Experienceย creating,ย understandingย and verifyingย FEAย ,ย CFD Modelsย 
  • A strong understanding of additive manufacturing technologies and materials.ย 
  • Hands-on experience with operating and troubleshooting 3D printing equipment.ย 
  • Experience with statistical data analysis and data-driven approaches to root cause analysisย 
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.ย 
  • Strong communicationย and project management skills.ย 
  • A practical understanding of machinery and maintenanceย 

Preferred Qualifications and Experienceย ย 

  • Extensiveย knowledge of designย forย additive manufacturing.ย ย 
  • Experience with robotic weldingย 
  • Knowledge of quality control standard (e.g. ISO 9001,ย ASย 9100).ย ย 
  • Experience and knowledge of engineering change control andย documentย workflowsย 
  • Strong analytical knowledgeย 
  • Experience with python,ย ย ย 
  • Experience with DED-arc technology.ย 
  • Experienceย working with robotic armsย ย 
  • Experienceย and knowledge of BS8888ย
