We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Addiction Recovery Coach-Peer Support Specialist with lived experience in addiction and recovery to join our Lifeline team based in Gwinnett County. This role is vital in providing peer-led support, fostering hope, and walking along-side individuals through their recovery journey. The ideal candidate will leverage personal experience to connect authentically with peers, offering mentorship and support grounded in empathy and understanding. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about making a positive impact in addiction recovery for individuals and families.

Qualifications:

• We are a Drug Free Workplace requiring drug testing
• For this position we require a national criminal background check with explanation of convictions
• A valid Drivers License
• At least two years of recovery from addiction
• A passion for serving individuals and families impacted by addiction
• Ability to quickly connect with peers in a medical environment
• 40 hours of Recovery Coach training (CARES) within a year of employment and maintain CEUs
• Specialized Coach training in high-intensity environments (provided)
• Ability to be on call and have transportation to respond to calls within 30 minutes of notification
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to record accurate data, prepare reports, use various software, train groups, and share your story
• Ability to communicate with peers, medical professionals, family members, and coworkers in a positive way and represent mental wellness and healthy recovery
• Ability to share HOPE in stressful environments and be a calming presence for peers in crisis
• Desire to be part of a team of innovators who are always working to improve the services we offer and who support each other while practicing healthy boundaries
• Willingness to learn and grow through continuing education and training
• RESPONSIBILITIES:
• When notified of an patient requiring support, arrive at the hospital within 30-60 minutes of the call or at the CSU within the designated 30-minute or 2-hour window
• Provide Peer support for people in the ED, CSU, or other medical environments who have overdosed or are at high risk of overdose from an opiate
• Interview the peer, take notes, and record information in KIPU (medical record software)
• Assist the peer in filling out consent forms
• Provide information on appropriate resources
• Train the person/loved ones on Naloxone for possible future overdoses
• Connect with the family/loved ones (with permission) to offer family resources
• Serve on the Phone Coaching Team for ongoing support for a year
• Create reports required
• Serve the hospital with training and at regular update meetings with staff to continuously improve the program
• Willingness and Commitment to live by the Navigate Recovery Gwinnett Core Values and CARES code of ethics
• Participate in facilitating meetings and supporting organizational events events
• Represent recovery in the community at all times

Pay and Benefits

•  Work Days and Hours: This is a full time hourly position (40 hours weekly) available immediately.
• The initial rate of pay is based on qualifications, certifications, and experience.
