Job description

Duties Description Creedmoor Psychiatric Center is recruiting an Addictions Counselor 2 to provide addictions counseling, treatment, and recovery services to individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply. As an Addictions Counselor 2, you will provide addiction counseling and treatment services to individuals with mental illness.

Duties include: Completing psychosocial assessments and substance-related screenings. Developing individualized treatment plans that include goals and objectives. Participating in case review to present clinical observations and suggest treatment programs.

Conducting individual and group counseling sessions. Monitoring and reporting on individuals' progress and maintaining records. Coordinating treatment planning with other clinical disciplines for individuals with more complicated conditions.

Supervising Addictions Counselor Assistants and Addiction Counselors 1. Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (HELPS) program if they are registered as a CASAC-Advanced Counselor or CASAC Master Counselor in New York State and have one year of post-registration addictions counseling experience in a certified or licensed program. OR Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law
