Job description

Overview 

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Maintenance Technician- Food Production to join our team! We are a growing food production company specializing in the assembly and repackaging of shelf-stable DIY baking kits. As we expand and prepare for SQF certification, we are building a strong team focused on quality, efficiency, and food safety. Planning preventative maintenance around production schedules, staying levelheaded when equipment goes down, and supporting our production department during downtime are all key features of this job!  

What You’ll Be Working On 

Our equipment includes: 

  • Vibratory auger fillers  
  • Continuous band sealer 
  • Bag labeling machine 
  • Digital weighing scales 
  • Metal detectors 

Duties 

1. Preventive Maintenance  

  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules. 
  • Inspect equipment regularly to prevent breakdowns. 
  • Maintain maintenance logs and records 
  • Replace worn parts before failure. 

2. Equipment Repair & Troubleshooting 

  • Diagnose mechanical and basic electrical issues. 
  • Repair auger fillers, conveyors, sealers, labeling systems, etc. 
  • Troubleshoot HMI interfaces and control systems. 
  • Minimize production downtime. 

3. Food Safety & Sanitary Maintenance 

  • Ensure all repairs use food-grade lubricants and materials. 
  • Prevent contamination during maintenance activities. 
  • Clean and sanitize equipment after maintenance work. 
  • Avoid introduction of foreign materials (e.g., screws, metal fragments). 

4. Setup Support 

  • Assist production with equipment setup and adjustments. 

5. Documentation & Compliance 

  • Maintain: 
  • Maintenance logs 
  • Repair records 
  • Calibration support records 
  • Follow documented SOPs. 
  • Support audit readiness at all times. 

6. Spare Parts & Inventory 

  • Maintain inventory of critical spare parts. 
  • Identify parts that need to be ordered. 
  • Work with management to avoid downtime risks. 

Experience 

Education / Technical Skills 

  • Technical diploma or certification in: 
  • Industrial maintenance 
  • Mechanical technology 
  • Mechatronics or similar 

OR equivalent hands-on experience. 

  • 2+ Years working with Food Production Equipment (preferred) 
  • Working on equipment from Adco, Allfill, and BW Flex 
  • Knowledge of electrical systems 
  • HMI Interface 
  • Basic computer skills (maintenance logs, email, Excel) 
  • Operate forklifts and powered pallet jacks to move heavy equipment 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus but not required 
  • Valid driver’s license (for occasional parts runs) 
  • Food Handler Permit or willingness to obtain 
  • Forklift Certified
