Job description

Onward Education is a specialized education staffing and talent solutions company that helps educators, therapists, and school health professionals find top jobs with the nation's top schools. We're partnering with a school in Roseville Minnesota to hire dedicated Developmental Adapted PE Teacher.

The Developmental Adapted PE Teacher supports students with diverse physical and developmental needs by providing individualized physical education instruction that promotes mobility, coordination, and overall wellness. This role helps ensure all students can safely and meaningfully participate in physical activity while supporting their physical and social development.

Position Details:

  • Start Date: 8/31/2026
  • End Date: 6/4/2027
  • Schedule: 24 hours per week
  • Schools/ students: 4-5 Charter Schools, 1-6 students
  • Location: In Person
  • School Year: 2026/2027

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized physical education programs tailored to students' abilities and IEP goals.
  • Assess students' motor skills, physical fitness levels, and functional abilities.
  • Adapt equipment, environment, and activities to ensure safe and inclusive participation.
  • Collaborate with special education staff, therapists, and general education teachers to support student success.
  • Monitor and document student progress and maintain compliance with IEP requirements.
  • Provide instruction that promotes physical fitness, coordination, and social interaction.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive learning environment during all physical activities.
  • Communicate regularly with families and school teams regarding student progress and needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Adapted Physical Education, or a related field.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities in a school-based setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of adapted physical education principles, motor development, and inclusive practices.
  • Strong ability to modify curriculum and instruction to meet diverse student needs.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
