JOB SUMMARY
HealthRIGHT 360, a nonprofit organization and a family of programs, is committed to providing accessible and comprehensive healthcare services to vulnerable populations. We offer a wide range of services, including mental health care, residential and outpatient substance use treatment, and primary health services. Additionally, we provide transitional support for individuals re-entering the community after involvement in the criminal justice system. Project ADAPT is an adult outpatient program that provides culturally competent substance use and mental health services in English and Chinese. Our program offers a strengths-based, trauma-informed, harm reduction approach. Services include individual, group and case management services as well as acupuncture and access to free cultural/recreational events. We also have free community lunches and encourage developing supportive relationships and community. Our goals are to provide a safe and respectful counseling space for people from all walks of life and to reduce the impact of substance use and mental health conditions that lead to healthy, meaningful lives.
The Clinical Therapist I works collaboratively with the Clinical Supervisor and Program Director, Asian American Recovery Services (AARS) Outreach and Prevention Department, HealthRIGHT 360 Intake Department as well as other Community Providers and Resources to assess and connect clients to the level of treatment that is appropriate for them. Clinical Therapist I will conduct substance use disorder (SUD) intakes and mental health (MH) screenings and complete Level of Care Assessments for clients seeking placement to Project ADAPT or other HealthRIGHT 360 outpatient programs. Clinical Therapist I will also manage a small caseload of individual SUD and MH therapy clients and facilitate Group Sessions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide SUD intake or mental health assessments and evaluations.
• Provide integrated individual and group alcohol and drug counseling, and mental health therapy.
• Provide culturally competent services using harm reduction and trauma-informed principles.
• Facilitate groups using evidence-based strategies on a variety of core curriculum such as CBT, Seeking Safety, DBT, and Relapse Prevention.
• Identify treatment needs, recommend treatment plans based on assessment, and ensure clients can meet all requirements.
• Manage a small SUD and MH caseload.
• Maintain productivity target of 24 hours of billable services per week.
• Serve as the point of contract and coordinate referrals and follow-up with other agencies.
• Handle crisis interventions and assess situations for further needs.
• Conduct level of care assessments and ensure clients are assessed to the appropriate level of care.
• Complete assigned Drug Medi-Cal, mental health documentation and billing.
• Provide diagnostic feedback and assessment information to the Clinical Team once clients are placed.
• Monitor reports daily to prevent and to clear up any compliance errors in client charts.
• Maintain client records in accordance with governing standards and regulations of the agency and program requirements.
• Coordinate intake planning and warm handoff with client's counselor and assist with answering any of the client's questions about engaging in treatment.
• Coordinate discharge planning of clients with their counselor.
• Provide consultation to staff regarding symptom management, mental health conditions, and crisis intervention strategies.
• Document all delivered individual and group services in various electronic systems in accordance with guidelines established by HealthRIGHT 360 to satisfy internal and external evaluating requirements.
• Attend and participate in staff and agency meetings and training.
• Assist with onboarding of new hires and participate in training or mentoring of new and existing employees.

And perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Certification, and Experience

• Master's degree in counseling, social work, or related field.
• Current Behavioral Board of Sciences (BBS) registration from an accredited institution recognized in California (AMFT, APCC, ACSW).
• First Aid Certified within 30 days of employment.
• CPR Certified within 30 days of employment.
• Valid California driver's license.

Experience

• Experience with mental health Medi-Cal procedures desired.
• Some experience in conducting mental health assessments and providing appropriate diagnosis in a dual diagnosis substance abuse treatment in an inpatient or outpatient community mental health setting preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with clinical paperwork, timely recordkeeping abilities, and dual entry in EHR systems.

• Substance Use Treatment Knowledge: Strong understanding of substance use disorder treatment models, including cognitive behavioral approaches.
• Group Facilitation: Ability to lead group counseling and education sessions, fostering a supportive and educational environment for clients.
• Documentation Accuracy: Skilled in maintaining detailed and timely documentation of treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge paperwork, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements.
• Ethical Practice and Confidentiality: Adherence to ethical standards in clinical practice, including the safeguarding of client confidentiality.
• Collaboration and Communication: Effective at working with multidisciplinary teams, case managers, probation officers, social workers, and other healthcare providers to ensure holistic care for clients.
• Cultural Competence: Understanding and respecting the diverse backgrounds of clients, integrating this knowledge into treatment to provide culturally sensitive care.

• Productivity and Adaptability: Capable of meeting productivity goals and adjusting to workload changes, ensuring continuous service delivery even during staff shortages or high-demand periods.
• Resilience and Flexibility: Ability to manage rotating after-hours crisis support, weekend shifts, and coverage needs while maintaining personal resilience and self-care.
• Training and Supervision: Willingness to support interns, participate in supervision, and engage in ongoing professional development, including licensed-specific trainings.
• Bilingual Skills (Preferred): Proficiency in additional languages, especially those commonly spoken in the community, is preferred for enhancing client communication.
• Flexibility: Ability to work a minimum of one late day per week (until 8pm).
