Job description

Position Description:

deciBel Research is seeking an experienced Software Developer in Huntsville, AL.

As a Software Developer on the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS) Fire Control (GFC) Battle Manager software team, the selected candidate will be part of a team responsible for developing and maintaining the software that supports the U.S. missile defense system. The role involves working in a collaborative environment to understand, implement, and test both existing and new capabilities and algorithms. Many of the algorithms and capabilities developed by the GFC team are complex, mathematics- and physics-based solutions that are highly visible to the GWS customer, the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). In addition to software development responsibilities, the candidate will also support the review of requirements and test cases developed in support of the GFC software team.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university

Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 2 years of related experience, or 1 years of experience with a PhD. No more than 12 years of experience.
  • Strong background in math and physics is recommended
  • Recent experience developing software in Ada or C++ or Java
  • Must be willing to become highly proficient with Ada software development
  • Quick to learn and able to absorb new concepts and information
  • Recent MATLAB and Python Experience
  • Unix/Linux Operating System Experience
  • Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
  • Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs
Special Skills Desired:
  • Advanced degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Highly experienced with Linux, scripting, and operations
  • Experience with Ada Programming
  • Experience with automated software requirements testing and analysis
  • Experience with the MDA GMD program
  • Experience with Agile Project Management tools (Jira/Confluence) and DevSecOps tools and methods (Jenkins, Ansible, Git/Gitlab) of continuous integration/continuous delivery and deployment (CI/CD) automation
