Job description

The Role

As an Operations Associate, you will be a part of the Sixth Street Global Operations Team that is responsible for investment execution, counterparty management, pipeline and other cash management functions, project management, and reporting and investment performance/analysis deliverables. The Operations Team supports Sixth Street's investing activities across the globe for our private credit/equity, asset-based financing ("ABF"), structured credit, hybrid, and liquid credit funds, business development companies, and separately managed accounts. We expect this position to help grow our strategic investing in Sixth Street owned and third-party insurance company clients in addition to our private funds.  As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to be an integral part of a growing team in a fast-spaced, entrepreneurial work environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support build out of the operational support model for structured ABF investing activities , including private funds and separately managed accounts of insurance company clients. Responsibilities include:
    • Interface directly with insurance company clients around pipeline management, asset setup, cash management, and other ad hoc inquiries
    • Design and document client onboarding processes
    • Trade capture across liquid and private assets in a standardized manner
    • Perform standard and ad hoc cash management and forecasting
    • Drive trade settlement
    • Client bank account and custodial integrations
    • Coordination with counterparties and external partners
  • Support deal execution for our ABF investing activities. Responsibilities include:
    • Serve as primary point of contact for our ABF investing and business teams
    • Partner with investing professionals, outside and internal counsel, tax, compliance, and other Sixth Street Core professionals ensuring good cross-functional communication and coordination throughout the investing process
    • Ensure appropriate liquidity is available for new investments
    • Ensure investment cash and settlement controls and protocols are adhered to
    • Perform the timely and accurate setup of new investments to the order management, accounting, and reporting systems
    • Identify and help creatively solve for critical accounting, reporting, compliance, and operational issues
    • Create securities and other instruments in the firm's order management system and book trades
  • Partner closely with Engineering to design and build scalable operational capabilities to support the firm's ABF investing strategies

What We Value

  • Candidates should possess a minimum of 8-10 years of experience. Experience should include operations, treasury, and/or middle and/or back-office operations at a buy-side organization that invests in highly structured transactions - securitizations, asset-based financings, structured loans, etc. (those seen at a private equity or private credit alternative asset management firm or investment bank)
  • Experience with Advent Geneva, Allvue/Black Mountain, and accounting sub-ledger vendors (ie., Clearwater, Aladdin, etc.) is a plus
  • Deep knowledge of insurance and/or asset/liability management operations, including building policies and procedures, identifying and implementing process improvements, and overseeing trade workflow controls & compliance
  • Highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and team-oriented candidates with strong communication, presentation, and Excel skills
  • Commercial and results oriented, but uncompromising on tight controls and processes

Compensation

The base salary for this position is expected to be between $140,000 and $160,000. The base salary offered to the selected candidate will be commensurate with a candidate's relevant experience and other qualifications for the position, as determined by Sixth Street in its sole discretion.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and a competitive benefits package. Benefits offered currently include health, life, long-term and short-term disability insurance and a 401(k) plan. In addition, this role is eligible for paid public holidays (NYSE calendar), paid sick days pursuant to local laws, and additional reasonable time off subject to manager approval.

If a job offer is extended for a location other than New York, the salary range may differ based on the location.
