How much do actuary internship jobs pay per hour?
What is an actuary internship?
What are the qualifications to get an actuary internship?
The qualifications needed to get an actuary internship include mathematical skills and enrollment in a relevant bachelor’s or master's degree program. Companies that hire interns prefer candidates who are pursuing a degree in finance, math, statistics, economics, or another subject with a quantitative focus. Interested students should focus on their studies and ensure they achieve high grades in their classes, especially in math, and have a basic understanding of an actuarial career. These actuary internship programs are usually only open to juniors and seniors in college who plan to pursue a career as an actuary, though there are some internship programs for postgraduate students who are currently studying actuarial sciences.
What types of projects or assignments can I expect during an actuary internship?
What is the difference between Actuary Internship vs Actuary?
| Aspect | Actuary Internship | Actuary |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Typically pursuing actuarial exams, student status | Passed multiple exams, professional certification (e.g., ASA, FSA) |
| Work Environment | Entry-level, temporary, training-focused | Full-time, professional, decision-making role |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Insurance companies, consulting firms, government agencies | Same as internship, but as a licensed professional |
The main difference between an Actuary Internship and an Actuary is experience level and certification. Internships are temporary positions for students working towards actuarial credentials, while actuaries are fully credentialed professionals responsible for risk assessment and financial modeling.
