What is Actor Access?

Actor Access is an online casting platform that allows actors to submit themselves for auditions and casting calls posted by casting directors and agents. It is widely used in the entertainment industry, especially for film, television, and commercial projects. Actors can create profiles, upload headshots, resumes, and reels, and search for roles that fit their experience and interests. The platform is a valuable resource for both aspiring and established actors looking to find and apply for acting opportunities.

What are some common challenges actors face when using Actor Access to find auditions?

Actors using Actor Access often face stiff competition, as many roles receive hundreds of submissions. Keeping your profile updated with recent headshots, reels, and credits is essential to stand out. Another challenge is tailoring submissions to each role, which requires attention to detail and persistence. Effective use of Actor Access also involves regularly checking new listings and responding quickly, as casting directors often review early submissions first.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an actor, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Actor, you need strong performance abilities, script interpretation skills, and often formal training in drama or performing arts. Familiarity with audition platforms (like Actors Access), camera techniques, and sometimes union membership (such as SAG-AFTRA) are important technical aspects. Exceptional emotional intelligence, adaptability, and communication skills set standout actors apart. These skills are crucial for delivering convincing performances, collaborating with directors and cast, and succeeding in a competitive industry.

Become the Monster. Create the Nightmare. Own the Night.

Scaregrounds PDX is looking for enthusiastic, energetic, and creative performers to join our cast of Scare Actors for the 2026 Halloween season at Oaks Amusement Park.

No professional acting experience is required—just a great attitude, a willingness to learn, and a passion for entertaining guests.

As a Scare Actor, you'll help create unforgettable memories by delivering immersive performances that thrill, surprise, and delight thousands of guests throughout the Halloween season.

Position Overview

Scare Actors portray monsters, creatures, and characters throughout our haunted attractions and midway entertainment areas. Working alongside a talented production team, you'll bring detailed environments to life through physical performance, improvisation, and guest interaction while maintaining a safe and engaging experience.

Responsibilities:

Performance

  • Perform as an assigned character throughout each shift
  • Stay in character while interacting with guests
  • Use movement, body language, voice, and timing to create memorable scares
  • Learn and perform designated scare techniques and performance cues
  • Adapt performances to changing guest flow and audience reactions
  • Work collaboratively with fellow performers to create an immersive experience

Character Development

  • Develop a unique performance style within your assigned role
  • Accept coaching and direction from Attraction Managers and Production Staff
  • Continuously improve your performance throughout the season

Guest Experience

  • Help maintain the atmosphere and story of your attraction
  • Remain professional and respectful while delivering scares
  • Follow all guest safety and interaction guidelines

Safety

  • Stay aware of your surroundings while performing
  • Immediately report hazards or incidents to your Attraction Manager
  • Help ensure a safe environment for guests and fellow cast members

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years old (performers under 18 may require parental consent)
  • Able to perform for extended periods while standing, walking, crouching, or moving through themed environments
  • Comfortable working in dark, loud, and theatrical settings
  • Reliable transportation to Oaks Amusement Park
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
  • Dependable attendance throughout the season

Experience Preferred (but Not Required)

  • Acting or theater
  • Haunted attractions
  • Improv or comedy
  • Dance or movement performance
  • Theme park entertainment
  • Cosplay or character performance
  • Customer service or public interaction

No experience? No problem! We provide training, rehearsals, and performance coaching before opening night.

Schedule

Seasonal evening and weekend position. Cast members are expected to attend rehearsals prior to opening and work scheduled shifts throughout the Halloween season, including weekends and peak event nights.

Compensation

Starting at $17.00 per hour, with opportunities for advancement into leadership roles in future seasons.

  • Build experience in live entertainment and immersive theater
