We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and experienced Activity Director to lead our resident engagement programs and help create a vibrant, welcoming community. This leadership role is ideal for someone who is passionate about enhancing quality of life through meaningful activities, fostering resident connections, and building a positive culture for residents, families, and staff alike.

The Activity Director is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and overseeing all aspects of the Activities Department in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as established company policies and procedures. This position plays a vital role in ensuring residents have opportunities to engage in enriching programs that support their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, implement, and direct a comprehensive activities program designed to meet the individual interests, needs, and abilities of residents.

  • Conduct and document resident assessments to identify recreational, therapeutic, and social needs.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized activity care plans that promote resident engagement and overall well-being.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, documentation standards, and quality assurance requirements.

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and support activity department staff and volunteers.

  • Develop and manage departmental budgets while maintaining cost-effective operations.

  • Coordinate special events, community partnerships, and off-site recreational outings.

  • Foster positive relationships with residents, families, staff, volunteers, and community organizations.

  • Promote resident participation in activities that enhance quality of life and encourage social interaction.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve programming to ensure meaningful and engaging experiences for residents.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in therapeutic recreation or activity programming, preferably in a healthcare, rehabilitation, long-term care, or senior living setting.

  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to assess resident needs and develop effective recreational and therapeutic programming.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and compliance practices related to resident activities.

  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Compassionate, dependable, and committed to providing exceptional resident-centered care.
