Palmetto Bluff is nestled along the May River in the Lowcountry of South Carolina between Hilton Head Island and Savannah. As an award winning 20,000 acre development, the development encompasses a private member’s only club which includes a marina, restaurants, an equestrian center, a shooting club, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, The Crossroads Reversable King Collins Golf Course, Anson Point Golf Course designed by Coore and Crenshaw, a lawn and racquet club, a community farm, and more. In addition, Palmetto Bluff has an extensive nature preserve, walking trails, retail shopping, art gallery, and a vibrant village, all which pay homage to the region’s rich heritage.

To provide a fun and safe atmosphere for all children participating in PBGO Programming.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in leading all weekly activities and ensure that all members are participating.
  • Responsible for safety and security of all children participating in various programming and activities.
  • Responsible for programs daily setup and clean up including theme days.
  • Create exciting and innovative activities for children to enjoy and participate in.
  • Greet all guests with a warm welcome and a fond farewell; ensuring that all children’s information/waivers are accurately filled out and the children are signed in on the sign-in sheet by parents/guardians before leaving.
  • Inform children and parents of daily craft and activities. Properly communicate with guests all of the present and upcoming programs, offerings, and family activities through PBGO.

Other:

  • Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, Associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the club. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

Supportive Functions:

  • In addition, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the Manager based upon the particular requirements of the program:
  • Have complete knowledge and certification in CPR
  • Organizing craft and activity supplies. Keeping track of supplies and informing the activity supervisor when there is a need to restock.
  • Regular sanitation and cleaning of all toys, equipment and furniture in the PBGO loft.
  • Perform other duties and handle projects assigned by the supervisor.
  • Adhere to safety standards.
  • Additional duties as necessary and assigned.
  • Ensure that the shed and supply closet remain organized for easy access to supplies for activities.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.

Qualifications:

  • Education
  • High School or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of working experience with children.
  • Licenses or Certificates
  • CPR/ First Aid Certified

Physical Demands:

  • Position requires walking; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 7 hours in length. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
  • Must be able to exert a well-paced ability to reach different outlets and other departments of the Resort on a timely basis.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, running, repetitive motions, swimming, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • The use of a swimsuit will be required during certain water activities.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
  • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, electric typewriter, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, dolly and other office equipment as needed.
