Job Summary

Under limited supervision, performs duties following established procedures in the following areas:

Essential Functions

  • Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plans for and takes corrective action. Makes necessary correction and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.

  • Reviews production schedule and when equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing, changes over equipment to new sizes or performs scheduled maintenance.

  • Tests equipment to check operation. Clears jams and sets aside product for inspection and rework. Tries out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.

  • Examines, tests, and measures product from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using gauges and instruments, and records data on appropriate forms. Checks product for visual defects.

  • Makes preventive maintenance check and inspection of assigned equipment, and reports findings to supervisor and takes appropriate action.

  • Analyzes and records cause of production delays on daily production report.

  • Notifies maintenance department or supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken, and of quality problems or supplies needed.

Additional Responsibilities

  • May direct the activities of the janitorial staff and building maintenance.

  • Willingness to work rotating shifts.

  • Develops among assigned personnel a consciousness for the need for team work to attain department objectives.

  • Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities.

  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • One- year certificate from college or technical school with at least five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must also have a working knowledge of PLC's specializing in manufacturing use.

  • Experience with roll-up doors, forklifts, order pickers preferred.

  • Experience with low and high voltage AC/DC electrical experience preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.

  • The employee must exert up to 75 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, accommodation, color vision, and field of vision.

  • May be required to wear a respirator due to dusty environment and exposed to considerable noise from machinery.
