Job description

The community behavioral health registered nurse (RN) part-time provides nursing care to individuals with mental health and substance use disorders within a community setting. This role involves assessing patients, developing and implementing care plans, administering medications, providing therapy, educating patients and families, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Also plays a crucial role in crisis intervention, discharge planning, and advocating for patients' needs within the community.

Responsibilities (Under the direction of the Team Leader and Medical Director)

(Services could be provided to children, adolescents and their families or to adults or a mixture of both)

    1. Assessment and Care Planning: Conducts thorough nursing assessments to identify co-morbid disorders, develops individualized care plans, and monitors client progress.
    2. Medication Management: Administers prescribed medications, monitors for side effects, and educates clients about their medications.
    3. Therapeutic Interventions: Provides individual, group, and family therapy, as well as counseling and support to help clients manage their conditions and improve their well-being.
    4. Crisis Intervention: Responds to and manages crisis situations, including de-escalation techniques and ensuring client safety.
    5. Collaboration and Communication: Works closely with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, peer support specialists and other community resources, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
    6. Patient and Family Education: Educates clients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
    7. Advocacy and Support: Advocates for client’s needs within the community, connecting clients with resources, and promoting their overall well-being.
    8. Documentation: Maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting assessments, treatments, and progress.
    9. Community Outreach: Participates in community outreach programs, providing education, and connecting individuals with mental health services.

Work setting: Clinic. On occasion may need to provided services in, individuals' homes, community settings, etc.

Requirement: · Current, valid, unrestricted license in the state of Georgia as a Registered Nurse.

Pay Rate: $45.00 to $60.00 per hour
