Job description

The Acoustical Ceiling Framer is responsible for installing suspended ceiling systems, acoustical ceiling grids, and related framing components on commercial and federal construction projects. This position requires experience with ceiling layouts, precision installation, and knowledge of seismic requirements to ensure ceiling systems meet project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:ย 

  • Layout and install acoustical ceiling systems, including suspension grids, framing components, and ceiling supports.
  • Install acoustical ceiling tiles, panels, trims, and accessories according to project drawings and specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, reflected ceiling plans, and construction documents.
  • Perform accurate measurements and layouts to ensure proper alignment, spacing, and elevation.
  • Install seismic bracing and framing components in accordance with project requirements and applicable codes.
  • Coordinate with other trades to ensure proper installation around lighting, HVAC, sprinkler systems, and other building components.
  • Inspect completed ceiling systems to ensure quality, levelness, and compliance with project standards.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, and other equipment required for ceiling installation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial acoustical ceiling installation experience preferred.
  • Experience working on commercial and/or federal construction projects strongly preferred.
  • Skilled in suspended ceiling systems, acoustical grid installation, and ceiling layouts.
  • Knowledge and experience with seismic framing requirements for acoustical ceilings.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, reflected ceiling plans, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with layout tools, laser levels, and ceiling installation equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
  • Ability to work safely at heights using ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work, including standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching overhead.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel as required for project assignments.
