Job description

Job Summary: A Field Supervisor oversees and coordinates activities of subcontracted labor crews engaged in new installation of roofing, siding, and gutters.  Responsible for receiving daily schedules and assigning jobs to labor crews and serving as the main point of contact for assigned builders and labor crews. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No direct reports but indirectly oversees subcontractors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Source and recruit labor crews (subcontractors), assign daily installation jobs, ensure that all installs and repairs are completed per assigned schedule, and approve all sub-contractor’s invoices for assigned crews.
  • Interpret job orders to determine type of work and materials required, coordinate materials drop offs/pick-ups and verify material order accuracy
  • Perform a daily walk-through of assigned subdivisions, inspecting for both quality and safety. Recommend measures to improve production, performance, and quality of work. 
  • Maintain constant communication with builders providing updates of any changes.
  • Work closely with the scheduling department and warehouse to monitor material usage for accuracy (e.g. shingle shortages).
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules. 
  • Serve as liaison between crews and builders with regard to daily installs. 
  • Enforce safety regulations and remain abreast of OSHA regulations specific to industry.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Bilingual (English/Spanish) desired. 
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet demanding production schedules.
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate a variety of people and projects.
  • Clean driving record with no accidents or major infractions within past 3 years. 
  • Thorough understanding of shingle roofing.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • 2-5 years of experience in construction industry required.
  • 2+ years of roofing or siding experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree is a plus and preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Employees are required to lift a maximum of 80 pounds safely, following proper lifting techniques.  For any items exceeding 80 pounds or items that are awkward, bulky, or difficult to handle, employees must use team lifts or approved mechanical lifting devices.
  • Must be able to climb ladder and traverse roof at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in various types of weather.
