Accounts Payable Manager Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop, and cross-train the accounts payable team - set priorities, assign work, and ensure coverage across payment runs and month-end close.
  • Own the end-to-end AP cycle from invoice receipt through payment -- coding, three-way match, exception resolution, and posting.
  • Oversee payment runs across all methods, confirming funding and proper authorization before release.
  • Own the AP account and bank reconciliations.
  • Govern the vendor master--vendor setup, verification, and changes, including independent verification of banking details to prevent fraud.
  • Administer vendor tax reporting and compliance, and unclaimed property (escheatment).
  • Define and report AP KPI's -- Invoice cycle time, on-time payment, aged/blocked invoices, duplicate-payment rate, and discount capture..
  • Compliance with Company Financial Standards, internal controls, and SOX requirements.

Accounts Payable Manager Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounts payable/accounting experience, including 3+ years supervising or leading an AP or Accounting team.
  • Hands-on AP experience in SAP -- invoice verification, payment runts, month-end close, and account reconciliations.
  • Experience with vendor tax reporting and foreign/cross border payments.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls (SOX).
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to hold a team and internal partners to deadlines and standards.
