Cost Accountant - Grafton, WI
The Cost Accountant is responsible for assisting in accounting transactions, assisting in the development of annual budgets, reconciling general ledger accounts, and reporting on accounting transactions for multiple entities in a fast-paced environment. This role requires an understanding of general accounting principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to multitask, use good judgment to prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. The Cost Accountant is expected to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally. This position will provide strong support for all operations through accurate reporting and effective communication with various departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
• Record journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and help prepare financial statements for multiple entities.
• Analyze costs and prepare monthly reports related to product costing, manufacturing results, and inventory valuation.
• Collect and report key performance indicator (KPI) data for manufacturing, inventory, distribution, and gross margins to track financial performance.
• Analyze inventory turns, costs, and variances, providing detailed reports to management for strategic decision-making.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
• Collaborate with various departments to develop and manage annual budgets, providing insights and recommendations for financial planning.
• Calculate and project return on investment (ROI) and payback periods for capital projects, providing critical financial analysis for decision-making.
• Assist in financial forecasting, planning, and analysis activities to drive business growth and profitability.
Accounting Operations:
• Assist in overseeing physical inventory counts, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Help coordinate with external auditors to ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
• Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Ensure adherence to Core Values, Core Purpose, Core Operating Standards, and Brand Promise in all financial operations.
• Maintain the confidentiality of all financial and sensitive information, always demonstrating discretion and professionalism.
Systems and Technology:
• Utilize ERP and accounting software systems proficiently.
• Proficiency in Excel and experience with QuickBooks, payroll software, and other accounting systems.
• Work with, communicate with, and support other departments cooperatively and effectively, utilizing various software systems.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Support:
• Communicate effectively with other departments to support cross-functional initiatives and ensure accurate financial data reporting.
• Provide strong support to operations through accurate reporting and effective communication.
• Represent company professionally in all interactions and support various departments as needed.
Performance Standards:
• Ability to work collaboratively with others, follow directions, and provide clear instructions.
• Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
• Minimum of 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in accounting, with a focus on financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, and general ledger management.
• Cost Accounting experience in a Manufacturing organization.
• Experience with ERP systems, ERP Implementation, and external audits is preferred.
