Job description

Our client in Waterbury, Connecticut is seeking a Temporary Part-Time Bookkeeper to support their accounting team 3 days per week. This role is ideal for an organized and detail-oriented accounting professional with hands-on experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting support. Based on general knowledge.

Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

  • Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documentation.
  • Review invoices for proper approvals and coding.
  • Enter invoices into the accounting or ERP system.
  • Assist with weekly check runs and vendor payments.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and research discrepancies.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries regarding invoices and payment status.
  • Maintain organized accounts payable records and supporting documentation.

Accounts Receivable

  • Prepare and issue customer invoices.
  • Apply customer payments and maintain accurate accounts receivable records.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and assist with collection efforts.
  • Follow up on past-due customer balances.
  • Research and resolve payment and invoice discrepancies.
  • Assist with customer account reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate customer records and supporting documentation.

General Accounting Support

  • Assist with bank and account reconciliations as needed.
  • Support month-end closing activities.
  • Help maintain accurate accounting records and documentation.
  • Work closely with other accounting staff to ensure deadlines are met.
