Staff Accountant

Location: Renaissance Academy Charter School - Phoenixville PA 19460

Salary: Up to $78,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications

Position Summary

Renaissance Academy Charter School, a K–12 public charter school in Pennsylvania, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our Business & Finance team. The Staff Accountant will support the school's day-to-day accounting operations and financial activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, month-end closing, audit preparation, and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while managing financial information.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain accurate accounting records and financial documentation.
  • Process and monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Perform bookkeeping and general ledger activities.
  • Prepare and maintain account reconciliations.
  • Assist with monthly and year-end closing procedures.
  • Assist with financial reporting and analysis.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for annual audits and other financial reviews.
  • Monitor transactions for accuracy and proper coding.
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies as needed.
  • Maintain organized financial records in accordance with applicable policies and requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Business Manager and other departments on financial matters.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Support compliance with applicable accounting standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other accounting and financial duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
  • At least three (3) years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a school, nonprofit, governmental, or public-sector environment.
  • Experience with accounting or financial management software.
  • Experience with school finance, fund accounting, budgeting, and audit processes.
Compensation

The anticipated salary for this position is up to $78,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
