Compensation: $56,000 - $67,500 Annually, Based on Experience


West Herr in Rochester NY is seeking an Accountant
to join our corporate accounting team. This position is responsible for supporting the monthly financial close process, preparing and posting journal entries, analyzing general ledger accounts, and preparing internal and manufacturer financial statements for two or more stores. This role is well suited for an accounting professional who enjoys hands-on accounting work and is looking for a stable, long-term opportunity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring monthly journal entries.
  • Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with monthly and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances.
  • Review account activity and identify unusual transactions or trends.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and integrity when handling confidential financial information.
  • Assist Controllers and management with financial reporting and analysis.
  • Support internal and external audit requests.
  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and procedures.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects as assigned.


Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Candidates without a degree who possess significant progressive accounting experience are encouraged to apply. Five or more years of relevant accounting experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience required.
  • Automotive dealership accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with dealership management systems such as CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Multi-entity accounting experience preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
